The GOP/RNC picked Sarah Palin because...? (fill in the blank question)
Since I can't start a Poll on this right now, I'd like your theories in a "fill in the blank" format.

The EIGHT Best will be use in a future poll when we are off of Defcon-3.

I have my own theory (which will be answer #9, along with "other" in the future poll) but I don't want to influence the other current theories here so,

Why on earth did the GOP/RNC go with such a clearly unqualified V.P. Pick?

down by 10 runs, no one on base and it's the seventh game of the World Series. In other words, they're Desperate (capital D).

9. The Max Blumenthal article has a misleading headline...
...which says that James Dobson vetted her.

But the details of the article say that Dobson just watched her on TV after she was announced as the VP nominee, not that he vetted her in advance.

6. They're concretizing their base so they will have a tool to be used by
Re-cross-overs and newly aligned TPB Later. Of course, they'll take a "win" in they can lie, cheat or steal their way into one, but Job #1 is holding onto a guaranteed vote count.

7. I still think it's a trap
There are about 10 reasons why we could wind up looking like assholes, but I think the two main reasons she was picked are the "inexperience" argument and the "McSame versus Maverick" argument.

It totally hoses the two dominant memes of the campaign from both sides, and defnitely shakes up the game.

14. McCain's play caller dropped acid and had a 'great idea.'
Or

McCain's handlers tried a hail Mary since nobody else really much wanted to run and nobody else seemed to change the narrative much.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and such.

McCain is really lame, on a whole lot of levels.

because he believed PUMAs existed and weren't a Repig funded dirty trick. McCainus actually believes pro-choice HRC backers will vote for him because he selected a woman (or whatever) to be his VP. Think Hillary is a little bit pissed off right now?
