We are not the campaign, we are not the press, we are not gonna have you tell us what we can discuss (as long as it conforms to DU rules of course);-)

1. Who's controlling anything?
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 03:13 PM by Richardo
He wasn't admonishing the press, he asked his supporters to leave the baby issue alone. Therefore I can only assume that those that keep it up do not support him.

There are dozens of real issues to discuss and illuminate that disqualify both McCain and Palin to be President.

6. I'm glad we have no influence on the Obama campaign.
Seriously.

Goddammit, the people running this campaign are PROS. They know what they're doing. They're not getting anywhere near this stuff and they're absolutely right. And neither should we.

11. Um, bullshit!
It means that most of Obama's supporters aren't mindless drones and I don't believe Obama would want us to be. I respect Obama, and his right to completely divorce himself from the lefty blog discourse, as he had absolutely no part in it. I also respect his not wanting his supporters to spread the rumors or cause harm in his name. The fact is, the right wing smear machine loves to be the martyrs, and they have the money and power to spin it that way. Anyway, I've said all I have to say about the breaking news this morning on this. It always comes back to McCain and his bad decision-making.

14. This is an internet message board
Bristol Palin's pregnancy is the topic of the day.

If you have a problem with that being discussed then you are free to close your web browser.

2. Agreed.
The problem seems to be, the right wing are malicious liars. They are trying to blame discourse on the internet as being directly fueled by his campaign. I'm glad he made the statement, but I'm not going to stop expressing my concern that McCain is not fit for the Presidency, and the prospect of Palin becoming VP is absolutely unacceptable.

15. Admonishing the press? Didn't sound that way to me...
the report I read quoted Obama as saying this: "Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be," he said. "And if I ever thought that there was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they'd be fired." How did we get from this to admonishment of the press and a clarion call for DUer's to avoid this topic?

20. Indeed. Could we have "GD:Blinders" forum?!
That way, all the posters who daily plead for the rest of us to join them in wearing blinders could have their very forum. They could exhort each other daily NOT to think about anything that might upset ANYONE in the forum, because the most important thing is always: YOU DON'T GO THERE!

Doesn't matter where "THERE" is. Just don't go there.

GD:Blinders ... for the weak kneed.

not associated with any particular campaign. There's nothing wrong with fishing around and causing trouble.
