McCain raises $47 million in August

While we're being good Democrats, McCain is making a mockery of the Presidency, and getting away with it.

Remember McCain and Palin are off limits.

1. No comment?
How did McCain's fundraising climb by $20 million in a month?

3. Supposedly $10 million came right after McCain chose Palin...
According to the article.

Meaning they raised just $37 million before Friday.

10. Yep. I don't think the McCain campaign can accept donations after Tuesday or Wednesday
When McCain is officially nominated.

7. May it all go to waste
But yes, that is a lot more than he has been raising. So, when does his adherence to govt. funding kick in? And does any of this matter when 527's and RNC shadow groups can still raise and spend money of him?

8. no one here has said Palin and McCain are off limits.
and as noted, McCain raised 10 million after announcing Palin as his VP pick. Furthermore, he's limited to spending public funds in the general.

12. So?
How is it that people are becoming more supportive of McCain's campaign?

It's a simplistic analogy, but something to consider.

14. simple. big donor fundies were withholding donations
so were uberconservatives who may not be fundies. Palin helped that. In addition, it's natural that repukes are getting on board. some may not much like mccain, but they hate dems and obama.

17. Breaking news:
The Democrats job is to draw down that number, not allow it to increase.

16. Goes to RNC McCain-Palin Victory Fund -- Barack needs more from us!
snip

The $47 million represents money raised by the campaign and McCain's share of a joint victory fund set up with the Republican Party. In July, McCain's last best fundraising performance, he raised $26 million.

The McCain camp expects the Republican National Committee's McCain-Palin Victory '08 fund to raise $100 million in September and October, giving the campaign overall access to more than $300 million for the fall contest.

snip

Think I'll donate to Barack (and the Red Cross) now. Ha ha, John McCain.
