Obama: 'Back Off'
From Obama.
"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits," Obama said. "And people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor and/or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics."

He also vows to fire any campaign staffer that stokes this story, and obviously isn't happy with the implication his campaign had anything to do with the story:

"I am offended by that statement. There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us," he said. "Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be. And if I thought there was somebody in my campaign who was involved in something like that, they would be fired."

5. That's what I'm hoping. Palin would force every woman- or girl- to carry a disabled fetus to term
and would also deny her sex education and access to birth control.

Hard to believe the camapign is really going to throw that under the bus.

But, who know it just might....

4. If we respect him....we will
He knows what we don't. Something inside me says that it isn't right to attack her kids. They are not responsible for her actions. I hope we can try to do something more productive with our minds. Mrs. Moose

7. no one is attacking her kids
We pity her daughter for having closed minded fundamentalist parents who denied her information to help her avoid pregnancy. With all their money and influence surely there was a gynecologist who could've prescribed this sexually active teen birth control?

The behavior of one's children, as well as the choice of one's spouse says a lot about a person's character.

So, no, I do not attack minor children. I do however, feel it is the responsibility of every thinking American to further question the suitability of Ms. Palin for VP based on the latest evidence of her lies and deceptions.

14. Are you kidding me?? There are HUNDREDS of posts here
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 12:38 AM by brensgrrl
attacking her children. I've seen uncounted posts bashing the daughter and quite a few bashing and
attacking the son who is now off to Iraq. Bashing the kids seems to be a popular sport here.

That is highly unfortunate. I am a mom, and if someone attacked my daughter, I'd shoot them. Period.
I do have guns and that sucker would be toast! If some idiot said the things about my daughter that some
here have said about Ms. Palin's daughter, they would be everlastingly sorry! I'd see to that.

Mr. Obama has said that we must stop talking about this issue, and many here don't get it.

Too bad.

(so sorry if this OFFENDS some here, but it is the God's Truth). . .

6. Good statement by Barack and as always a man of class. I know I have got into the discussions here
on it and so it is out and the media will do with it as they want. Iam done and as Obama says, nothing to do with her performance as governor or potential performance as a VP.

11. This is a case where WE bloggers had to do the dirty work to make Obama look good ....

Believe it ....beacuse it's true.

Without blogosphere set afire and blazing with stories about Baby-gate, nobody would have paid any attention to these little "minor" details.

Obama comes across as the leader with class and dignity and WE put him in that postion.

13. I want ie out....but not by my getting down in the mud.
there are many ways to get things done, without putting yourself in the same category as Rush and other low life. That is how I feel about anyone that wants to do things in a petty and picky way. I believe in exposing those that are doing what this outfit is doing, but we have to come up with a way of doing it that doesn't put us in their arena. I do want people to just think about what I am saying. If I am wrong, then so be it, but I have to say how I am thinking about all the mud slinging. It hurts to see it going on this far. You know how you don't read the junk mail, tabloids etc as it goes too far. I think we should take Obama's advise. It will come out...we need to do it without too much mud throwing. Mrs. Moose
