8. Today is a holiday
Her new friends got her an attorney for this troopergate scandal from their stable of hired guns. How else could she have found one today or discovered the need for one just today?
Well, this looks like the Republicans are sticking with Sara.

13. Wasn't this trooper a creep?
If the full story comes out showing this trooper behaved despicably, this supposed scandal isn't going anywhere.

21. bullshit. he was a creep. he was punished for that creepiness. then they went after cheif to fire
he couldnt fire cause they had already address and sent out punishment, was over. cheif said stop interfering or when this creep does something that is a firing offense you will have fucked it up by interferring. they pressed him and then he was fired....

the trooper, Wooten, people are going to be more sympathetic toward Palin. Doesn't matter what the facts are and that her actions are questionable.

22. Yes, but he was punished. She didn't get the trooper fired--she got
a well-respected public official fired. You can't abuse the power of your office to get other state officials to interfere in your family vendetta. And then, as a kicker, she did NOT give Monegan (the one she fired) a severance package, but the guy she hired to REPLACE Monegan, a crony named Kopp, was let go after two weeks because of a sex scandal--but she OK'd a $10,000 severance package for HIM. For TWO WEEKS of work. Insane.

35. All right---the severance package bit
that part needs to be part of the discussion. I'm just saying, and Rachel Maddow said as much a few nights ago. That, if people find out the details of Wooten, the trooper, and develop a low opinion of him, many people are going to find it hard to be outraged at her firing on Moneghan. But the info on Kopp and the severance package business adds more meat to the story.

This isn't something cooked up after she was announced by blogs. The investigation had been ongoing for some time before she was ever picked.

38. I know it's been ongoing
My main point is that, for American voters who are still making up their mind about this choice for VP, if information about the trooper comes out and he's seen in a negative light, they will feel sympathy for Palin even if what she did comes out to be on the shady side. They'll just think "good for her."

that they have been throwing around for years. It's been a convenient way for them to instill in people the belief that if you use your Constitutional rights you have something to hide, or if you stand to protect our Constitutional rights you are anti-law enforcement and pro-criminal rights. Irony.

19. OF course she hired private counsel. Here's why....
She lied about contacts with the public safety officer and efforts to pressure him to fire her ex-brother-in-law.

THEN she backtracted when she found out there was a tape recorded telephone conversation showing she lied.

THEN she appointed an AG investigator to 'investigate' the claim, AFTER she learned the State Legislature approved an investigation into the matter and allocated $100K to carry out that investigation.

Supposedly the AG investigator was just 'investigating' the claim by vacuuming up docs and interviewing witnesses BEFORE the Legislature investigation could take place. So will the AG investigator 'turn over' the docs and evidence he acquired to the Legislature investigation? I don't think so.

The natural question is why won't he turn over the docs and statements and evidence to the Legislature investigation? (Answer: Palin told him not to do so.)

This is going to be hanging around for quite a while.

25. On another point ... She left Wasilla w/ $20mil in debt. Wonder what examing the books will reveal?
She didn't just create $20mil in debt and walk away without there being some forensic accounting going on by those left behind to pay the bills.
