Andrea Mitchell: this gives the GOP a chance to "re-brand themselves"
I nearly peed my pants laughing at her just now on MSNBC. There she was in the not even 1/4 filled arena in St. Paul (I'm probably being generous at that), saying not once, not twice, but three times that this is a "great opportunity for the GOP to re-brand themselves."

Really? A convention no one cares about? That is hardly even happening? Re-branding is a marketing term having to do with re-fashioning your product to be more appealing to the public, assuming something has happened to cause it to be unappealing (um, YEAH). How can you "re-brand" in an event that is barely going on?

How can you "re-brand" when the major networks are only switching over to you for about five minutes for every hour of Gustav/Hanna/Ike coverage?

Oh Andrea. You're so hilarious. And obvious. And desperate. Just like your party.

I did love the fact that she acknowledged how desperate the GOP was to figure out "what to do" with bush and cheney and this sort of solved that question. How sad!

And btw, the Troopergate thing is getting serious legs. Forget babies, focus on that and keep the heat up. I'm hoping she'll have to withdraw her name and McDouche will say "FUCK IT, I WANTED HOLY JOE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!"

1. Good grief. I actually agree with Andrea M about something.
I really have landed in alternate universe.

3. You mean the thing about bush and cheney?
If so, yeah. She was speaking the truth.

14. I was talking about rebranding the party. Ever there ever was a time to do it, it would be now.

4. Well she was a TOTAL bitch to the guy asking her questions
(Dan Abrams?) He said "maybe this is a naive question, but" and she said "not from you..." in a really ugly tone.

MEOW!

5. I guess I dont get it
of course this is a chance for them to rebrand themselves.

Doesn't mean it will work, depends on how smart undecideds really are, but it absolutely is a chance to rebrand themselves.

8. Re-branding depends highly upon people paying attention.
Who is paying attention?

Not even the networks are paying attention. It's hardly even happening. Andrea Mitchell said they are still deciding if they are even going to HAVE a prime-time event this week.

And how can you have eight years of what we've seen and re-brand that in three or four days? Or really a total of 1 1/2 days? I think that's assuredly beyond their competencies.

6. She also said that Palin has done what they wanted by the fact they have raised millions of dollars

since she has come on the ticket. She has energized the party or the right wing of the party I guess so much the money is flowing in according to Mitchell.

9. Mitchell is better suited for Fox News .... Really, why is she on MSNBC?

She makes it so obvious that she's a neo-con supporter it makes me ill.

10. Oh absolutely.
At the end of that absolutely amazing Dem convention, she was all "but was it TOO much?" like a pouty child and now she's in a mostly empty arena for the RNC acting like it's such an exciting OPPORTUNITY for them! Dear Lord. Don't even try to hide your bias, girlfriend. :eyes:

11. Andrea also did a "some people say"
and implied several times that Palin was only being investigated because she has "political opponents".

15. But wait: think about what that means

If an opportunity to re-brand is such a good thing, what does that say?

It says she thinks that a chance - any chance - to re-brand and get themselves back on track is sorely needed.

They're in total disarray. Their big chance at 24/7 tV coverage has been shot to hell. Their VP candidate, instead of being the talk of the country for the big stride in women's advancement, is being exposed as a complete, cynical fraud. No one's buying that, either, and it's doing big damage to McCain.

They need re-branding (or call it whatever you will) in a very, very bad way.

18. Government = Business
Everything in gov't has now been transformed into an entity that follows for-profit business practices and lingo, where nonsensical terms such as "leverage" and "customer" have become gov't-speak and department heads are suddenly "CFOs" and "CTOs".

Andrea's husband was formerly the head of the Federal Reserve, probably the largest "business" (financially) in the world. And that organization and its banks, along with the neocons, and wingnut fundies, have taken over America in a bloodless coup.

As Dennis Kucinich so elegantly put it:

WAKE UP AMERICA
