The real issue here is that abstinence doesn't work
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 07:06 PM by barack the house
The story that this really shows that the Republican policy of abstinence doesn't work. They are putting forward family values and don't have sex till you're married. The main thing here is that it's sham that doesn't work and just another demonstration that their policy doesn't work in modern america. They are a dinosaur party that belong in the past America will get that part and see it's time to move forward or be left behind. Obama/Biden 2008.

Abstinence only education does not.

To be said, read, and spread!!!

Great thinking, barack the house! :toast: The Bristol Palin affair truly proves that abstinence-only education doesn't work.

How's that abstinence education workin' out for ya, 'CONS? She married yet? I know we're talking Alaska, the Last Frontier and hardy, sturdy maveriquette frontier women, but shotgun weddings again?

GEEZ. What century is this again? Change back to the bad old days?

4. Its hard to get pregnant if your abstinent.... Obviously she chose not to be
Do you really think she didn't know how one becomes pregnant or about condems and birth control? Maybe not - By the way I do agree in sex education.

5. Hey it works just fine
when you use it. It fails almost 100% of the time when you don't.

The real trick is for teenagers to use their Bibles. Clamp the Bible tightly between their knees and hold it there, until you turn 21 or get married.

6. And also that Sarah Palin
certainly isn't the face the GOP should be putting on it.

School get money, our tax dollars, to promote abstinence only. And they want Sarah Palin to be the spokesmodel for it?

Stil the fundies seem to be digging in their heels and cheering on the family values of the Palins becausse Bristol is choosing to have and keep the baby. Not having an abortion trumps the failure in all of this rhetoric.

12. As Hartmann has continually said it's time for famalies to limit their sizes 1 kid per family-->
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 07:23 PM by barack the house
would statistically reduce the world population to 1 billion in 100 years. The value of birth control is also for human existance. The smaller our famalies the lower drain on resources. Nothing to be said against those currenlty with large famalies but this is the new way forward.

13. That's correct!
I'm a child of the 50's and it was (seriously, in fact, very seriously) a part of our education. The need to limit the size of the family. It was suggested at that time that couples limit themselves to two children - not only for the obvious issue of overpopulation, but also economically. It was taught to us that, generally, it was possible to put two children through college, etc., etc.

And I mean no disrespect to anyone who has more than two children. But I grew up with this lesson in a public school in a small Texas town.

And I don't think that anyone can argue against the issue of overpopulation. We have only to look at China to see that it is a very real concern.
