1. Not when a possible Vice President of the United States was a part of it.
Sorry, but this needs serious airing.

3. Secession is OK now?
Maybe Alaska and Maine could secede and make a deal with the, say RUSSIANS, for them to place ICBM's in those former states. I know they could hire Brad Blakeman to sell it...

Didn't we fight a war in the 1800's about this issue? I forget...

13. To be honest, it's not going to bother right wing Texans at ALL.
In fact, they'll probably quite like it.

But they'll probably vote for McCain anyway. Independents will probably find it creepy.

I'm not a right winger, but I think secession isn't outside the realm of rational thought.

maybe it makes sense to them. Have no dog in that hunt.

Do have a dog in this election process. And if she doesn't want to be part of a nation, she has no business running to be VP and potentially end up running a country she wants to be rid of.

Simple. I want someone who is committed to leading and fixing our country. Bonus if like Barack, they have some love for our country and wish to see it become even better and more compassionate. She doesn't want the state she governs now to even be part of the USA any longer So what business does she have running for VP?

Oh, yeah - will look good on her resume for when she becomes President of the Independent COUNTRY of Alaska. Right - no wonder she is looking forward to us paying for her on the job training as VP.

18. It could be interesting....would put a whole new flavor on the "breakaway province" debate.
How free are you if entry into the union is a irrevocable contract?

What does it say about the whole argument of "State's Rights"?

It's a fascinating topic in a lot of respects.

What makes Kosovo okay and Alaska or South Ossentia bad?

29. I hope you meant this as sarcasm!... I am so tired of the DU posters who
warn us that we shouldn't be having open honest exchanges of ideas here.

We live in the U.S. of A.!!!!!!!!! This is a nation founded on freedom of speech and assembly and so many other freedoms.

Why anyone here would want to curtail honest, open intelligent adult discussion of the horrendous people in the Republican Party, and their actions, their beliefs, their idiocy, I am amazed that anyone would suggest we should NOT be discussing these issues and events, for fear of some reprisal out there.

Let's act like adults on a computer bulletin board. We have to discuss issues and events and opinions openly, or we might as well just cower under the fascistic forces of the Republican fear machine.

Be brave, express yourself, and help us all out with your honesty and openness. PLEASE stop the censor police from appearing tmidly in every other thread, threatening us with loss of an election for being Americans using our freedoms!

Geesh!
