McCain's Train Wreck : Give the credit to Barack Obama |
|
As McCain's pivot last week left pundits dumfounded, not knowing what to make of it all, I realized, we've seen this movie before.
Obama's campaign drove Team Hillary to distraction. I won't forget the completely senseless gaffes, and the new slogan every week, particularly "which Hillary will we see today"?
However dysfunctional Clinton's back office was (and it certainly was), they were seasoned operatives. Every which way they looked , the Obama campaign had them cornered, sometimes days, weeks, and months in advance.
As McCain implodes, we see only the tip of the iceberg: The panic, the desperation to find some way out. I doubt David Axelrod thought McCain would try a Hail Mary, Joseph and Little Baby Jesus pass but there is. And onward strolls No Drama Obama. We must be seeing the best political campaign of modern times.

2. As I've been saying for months here |
|
He is the most ruthless campaigner I've ever seen (and I've seen a few in my 33 years) and each time he manages to appear as above the fray, and usually not attached to whatever attack is being hurled at his opponent. This is a campaign (both primary, and most likely general) I can't wait to read the books about.
I think future candidates of any office will be wise to try and duplicate, but I think most will not be able to pull it off.

3. Well, if he's ruthless... |
|
then I'm just glad he's on my side of the war.

and many others as well.
He was almost my last choice when this began, but even then I started noticing, and admiring his campaign. It's possible we'll lose, but I've been thinking for months (also) that this will be the Dem's 1980 election - a massive landslide for the Democrats.
