Is the Justice Department involved with the AIP thing yet ?
Or is it legal to support secession in the US?

2. It probably is legal.
Puerto Rico has similar issues, California and New York have talked about ceding if I recall correctly. To me, it's not too terribly different from having a communist party in a capitalist country. It's a point of view.

3. I was wondering about the legal status of that group.
Isn't formally advocating secession a form of sedition? Or is it considered "free speech"? I really don't know. I had no idea there even was such a group up there.

After what I've heard about Alaska in the last few days, I find that (a) it's even weirder than Florida, and (b) despite the scenery, I really don't want to visit there after all. Canada will be fine, thanks.

5. it's just as legal as belonging to the Communist Party...but most people would not support either
a Communist Party supporter or a secessionist party supporter for Vice President or President of the United States

7. Taking overt action to unilaterally secede from the U.S. would be illegal
as per U.S. Supreme Court case Texas v. White. Mutual agreements for a state to secede among the states, based on a constitutional amendment process would be legal.

I wonder if groups like the AIP have secret armed militias, training in the woods just in case they decide to unilaterally secede one day, and whether Sarah Palin trained with them.

8.  HR 1955: The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act
Might Palin's behavior qualify for Bush's goons? Nah, she's *family.*
