Friday, 9/12/2008 - The Day Palin Withdraws and Joe Lieberman Is Added to the Ticket |
|
McCain has wanted Lieberman all along, but he needed a conservative to get through the convention. Once the convention is over, he will run hard to the middle, abandon the base, and put Joe Lieberman on his ticket.
Yes, the base will rebel, but McCain is banking on true independents to make up for the loss of the base. Also, where else can the base go?

Although Pawlenty, Portman, or Romney woulda been safer choices than Lieberman.

3. McCain Despises Mittens |
|
And he doesn't know Pawlenty nor Portman. He really, really wants Lieberman because they're two peas in a pod, but he cannot get Lieberman by the fundies. Also, he didn't want his VP selection booed at the convention.
He went with Palin because she was the default choice by his handlers, and I would guess that right about now, McCain is pissed off at them.

9. McCain does know Pawlenty fairly well |
|
Which is why he was thought to be the leading candidate for V.P. before he chose Palin. Concerning Lieberman, Pat Buchanan thinks that Lieberman would be defeated on the Convention floor if he had selected him.

4. I realize this is your opinion, based on your opinion, but I doubt it. |

They will just tough this one out. Admitting to a huge mistake in judgment is something McCain will never do. I did, however, circle Friday, 9/12 and made a bad mark on my monitor.

6. Whoever he picks automatically becomes second fiddle to Sarah Palin |
|
Who in their right mind would want that title?
"Lieberman is certainly a good choice Larry, but not quite as good as McCain's first choice, Sarah Palin."
For the record, I don't think Palin is going to make it to her RNC nomination.
