Lyndon Johnson once said "When I Lost Walter Cronkite" I was knew I was toast |
|
Meaning "When I lost the media it was the end of my political career."
Folks, from everything we have read this evening, Sarah Palin has lost the main stream media. Larry King, Campbell Brown, etc.

2. The republicans are totally grasping at straws |
|
they are at a loss to put forward a single attribute that qualifies as real EXPERIENCE. This poor unfortunate lady.. why'd they pick her and why on earth did she say yes??? There's just nothing there... nada. It's vapor, like a cloud, a void of nothingness. POOF

The Rs are going to get all pumped up for her at the convention, leading the MSM to grab hold of the "but she has been able to secure the support of her party" for a lifeline. And, they ALREADY are framing the VP debate so that all she has to do is not pass out and they will call it a win for her, or beat up on Biden if she loses.
Make no mistake, the MSM knows its place, and that is bolstering Rs/attacking Ds.

5. Just watch the management of expectations. There they go again. |
|
So anything short of her shitting on stage will be portrayed as brave, prudent, with wise restraint, in other words - a win.

4. Losing Cronkite was different |
|
Cronkite was a true newsman, the "most trusted man in America". He really did do a even handed job of reporting. The only times I recall his emotions nearly getting the best of him was when he reported that JFK had died and the night we landed on the moon (he was giddy). As a rule Uncle Walter did not report his opinions so when he came back from Vietnam and said we needed to get out it was a much bigger deal than when today's media whores change their minds.

7. But for McCrash this is even worse: The press is "his base"; |
|
Hell, this may be the thing that stops the establishment media from acting as the propaganda arm of the McCrash campaign. I mean, at some point it's gotta be too much even for them.

I don't think she has lost all the mainstream yet. She may have lost the cable news (except Faux Snooze) talking heads (Brown, Blitzer), but the network folks (Mitchell, Brokaw, Stephanopolis, etc) are still cheerleading. It will be interesting to see how opportunist they are and whether they plan to go down with a sinking ship or whether they can grab a lifeboat to try to recoup whatever sliver of credibility that they think they have left. The cable cheerleaders suddenly jumped ship this evening, making an effort to save themselves.
In general, the egotistical TV media outlet have been the last to get a clue while the print media, via their online copy, has been investigating like mad all weekend and not drinking the koolaid.
