sarah palin will NOT be the republican vice-presidential nominee
it is very quickly becoming apparent that this candidacy is not up to even the low bar set by dan quayle.
the media are having a field day, and the mclame camp is NOT going all out to defend her. they're obviously can't just let her twist in the wind, but you don't see mclame vowing that he's made the right choice and she'll be by his side through november and beyond and whatever.

mclame picked her to shore up HIS cred with the rabid right. ALL HE NEEDED TO DO WAS PICK HER. this proved to the rabid right that he would do what they asked of him. he doesn't need to KEEP her.

now, obviously, he can't just dump her, and can't be seen as WANTING to dump her. but if it were to become obvious that she's too much of a liability (duh!) then either she can withdraw or the rabid right can pull her themselves.

the rabid right ultimately will realize that that the mccleese/palin flying circus is going over like a big joke and will settle for mclame/polenta or whatever, knowing that they've got mclame's number and he'll cave in to their demands whenever they need him to.

think thomas eagleton.

palin will not last. she'll probably say she needs to spend more time with her family.

3. And suicide
But then picking Palin looks, increasingly, like suicide too. Is there such a thing as suicide suicide?

2. Wait, you mean he picked her just so her could dump her and then
bring in who he really wanted (presumably Liebertoad)?

It's an interesting idea, but do you really think McCrash is capable of thinking that deviously?

23. But Meirs bowed out because of all the fundie racket that she wasn't sufficiently anti-choice
Among other things. She wasn't conservative enough for the rabid fundie right wing.

No way you can say that about Palin. And she appears to have been picked especially to appease that base that doesn't trust McCain.

If McCain's campaign shitcans her, there will be hell to pay from them.

I don't think it's the same thing at all.

he did not do this as a plan to appease the rw religious and then plan to dump her. this hurts him too much

7. Ironically, she really DOES need to spend more time at home.
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 09:37 PM by Fridays Child
She has a special needs baby, prone to many illnesses, infections, and other conditions. And she has a pregnant and unwed, teenaged daughter. Her problems stem from the fact that she hasn't spent enough time at home. She needs to...ahem...

Focus On the Family.

12. Mentioned it on another post but
has anyone seen or heard anything at all from McCain yet? I might have missed it, but I have heard squat from him at his on the scene location at hurricane central.

He could at least comment on that, since he has botched their convention allegedy to head for his hurricane photo op visit.

24. Newsflash re McCain
There is another thread going here that I just saw - CNN' Anderson Cooper had some shots of McCain in hurricane alley, but said that when he asked McCain if he could ask him some questions, MCCAIN DECLINED. This is bizarre behavior from a candidate.

As for Palin, as far as I can tell she has the same "I am NOT talking to anyone" disease that McCain has going. I am calling her Puppet Palin, and apparently Johnny Boy has the strings to this ventriliquist's doll all tangled up.

At least he was a Congressman and then a two-term Senator from Indiana!
If I were him - I'd be insulted being compared to her!
That's the only time you'll hear me being kind to Dan Quayle - but seriously!!

2. Sarah flies home to be by her side
3. Sarah declines VP slot to be with family
4. Pugs choose new VP
5. Pugs blame Dems for daughters problem with pregnacy because they are mean

Pugs win because they threw the fundies a bone and now they have something to build up fake outrage over.

29. I think she'll drop out by week's end
They'll concoct some family emergency and she'll withdraw. It's too risky & distracting for McCain to keep her on the ticket. Better to dump her now, before she's nominated.

going after her children or something else equally sodden with victimhood.

We'll need to stay on the offensive and deal with the pity stories

32. My feeling as well
That's why I appreciate Obama's policy of discouraging attacks on her family. We don't want to make a RW martyr of this lunatic. She's done enough dubious crap that we can go after fair and square.

33. Hey, whatever it takes. ;)
I just want this poor excuse for a semi-sentient life-form GONE. Gone from the media, gone from our awareness, gone from any possibility of ever mis-wielding power or influence again. She could go home and bake cookies. Isn't that what all "good conservative" women are supposed to do? (Though oddly enough, the ones that most want to force this lifestyle on everyone else, are the absolute last ones to be living it.) The thought that she might not stay on the rethug ticket is the best news I've had all week!

They will blame "politics of personal destruction". Push back with McCrash "no executive judgement".

Everytime, every opportunity, put it right back on McCain. McCain has had much longer than Obama to vet and make his big decision, and Palin is the best he can do.

The USA is sick and tired of cowboys and cowboy wannabes like Shrub Bush. Maverick might be ok, if it were not a lie, but shooting from the hip is definitely not the way to run a country.
