“We are going to flush the toilet" on Labor Day - revealing Palin's daughter pregnancy & husband DUI

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/02/us/politics/02assess.html?ref=politics

<snip>

But the disclosure presents what was at the very least an unwanted distraction for Mr. McCain’s campaign as he prepares for his nomination. Mr. McCain’s aides disclosed the news at the same time as Hurricane Gustav struck land in what they said was an orchestrated attempt to minimize attention to it. Yet still it dominated discussion among delegates here, and in the news coverage that was devoted to politics, on the opening day of Mr. McCain’s convention.

Mr. McCain’s advisers said that they were confident the story would fade soon. Still, it seemed certain, along with other dribbles of disclosures about Ms. Palin, to interfere with the careful effort by the McCain campaign to portray her as a socially conservative, corruption-fighting hockey mom with five children. Not incidentally, this is occurring at a critical moment for Ms. Palin, when a picture of her is just being drawn for the American public

...

Mr. McCain’s campaign, which has shown itself adept at handling the news media, tried to influence coverage of the disclosure by releasing it as Hurricane Gustav was slamming into the Gulf Coast. (The Palin news was not mentioned on the “CBS Evening News” until 15 minutes into the newscast). It was also by every appearance tucked into a series of problematic tidbits released about Ms. Palin’s past, including news that her husband, Todd, was arrested for driving while impaired in 1986.

“We are going to flush the toilet,” said Tucker Eskew, who is a senior adviser to Ms. Palin, describing the campaign’s plans for Labor Day, when much of the nation was busy with family and social activities.

10. Tucker Eskew is incredibly stupid to have used that expression ON THE RECORD whilst talking
about his own campaign.

7. They're living in the Twilight Zone and
the rest of us are into Reality now. Small potatoes..at least to me about the pregnancy and the DUI.

It's palin's record as gov that doesn't stand up to scrutiny and that's just beginning.

Guess ol' big brother wannabe forgot about the INternet..thanks Al Gore.

8. They'd better empty the punchbowl when they finish flushing the toilet.
There's a floater in there too.

Palin's got a lot more problems than the ones they tried to address today.
