McCain isn't oficially the nominee until the delegates vote |
|
He's gone a long way towards blowing his chance at the Presidency. If I was a delegate, I'd be wanting a new candidate.
What are the chances that he'll be tossed over by the delegates at the convention because of the mess he's been making this week?

The Republican Party faiuthful are happy, even thrilled with the choice now that McCain has picked Palin.

That was true of Obama. There's a very low likelihood that at this point the delegates will vote for someone else.
That Palin might self-destruct and be withdrawn as the VP nominee is something else entirely. You might want to read about 1972 and Thomas Ealgeton.

6. But the Eagleton scandal happened after the convention. |
|
The delegates voted for him and McGovern not knowing of the scandal.
Small difference.

8. I',m not sure exact timing matters. |
|
During the convention or shortly after, it hardly matters if the VP selection is sullied and needs to be dropped.

5. 0% who would they rally around on such short notice? |
|
It would be messy, and possibly cause more rifts, and they might end up with McCain anyway.

9. So if we see a steaming turd on the stage, we know McCain is out. |
