Another Palin post: Why I think she, as (R) VP, helps Obama |
|
I think it may have to do with my belief that since 9/11 America has seen the VP as an active role and as a spot for someone strong on foreign policy and who has experience. People may say America wants something different this time than that but I think so only to a point. While people no longer want corrupt guys like Cheney being VP, they still want the added security of having someone that has a lot of experience in government. Someone who can take over if something happens to the President. America is familiar with the VP having a strong influence on the candidate since 9/11 and they are still wanting someone there who knows whats going on. Having Biden as VP will make Americans feel safer voting for Obama.
Palin has barely any experience and has never known what life is like in the lower 48 or in major American cities. She would be a heartbeat away from the Presidency with a man being President, in a very stressful job, at the age of 72.
I think McCain has taken the attention off Obama when he/rove/schmidt have been trying to make the election about Obama. That's a plus for us. With all the attention on Palin now, the celebrity meme just doesn't seem to fit anywhere anymore. In my opinion, the most "exotic" ticket now is the McCain/Palin ticket. A 72 year old man who could be placed into a very stressful job and an inexperienced Alaska governor with family issues. McCain wanted the spotlight, now he has it, and it is scary.
