5. Yep and her lobbying for pork and how McCain didn't vet her thoroughly.
And the Repuke talking head kept saying, "Obviously McCain's campaign vetted her thoroughly." Really? Is that REALLY obvious? Cause I am telling you, if he DID vet her thoroughly....DAMN!

32. Agreed.... damn! She's got a lot of warts for a thoroughly vetted candidate.
I have to wonder, too, at the amateur move allowing Palin to lie on the Bridge to Nowhere issue in her introduction/acceptance speech. It was such an unambiguous statement that is easily refutable. And same for her ~strong stance against earmarks~.

13. We on the tubes need to hammer the AIP story even more...
Digg the story, rate up the You tube video with Palin endorsing the AIP party etc etc..let's keep at it. If we don't work and define this ....this....PLAIN and her hypocrisy, the MSN will give it a pass!

Especially the video where the AIP Pres was saying Palin went over to the Repukes to "move on and up". Anyone have a link for that youtube video???

We need to keep it up. I am firmly on this side now....keep the cameras rolling folks!!

The original videos aren't of much use for informing a wider audience, given their length.

15. "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."
That phrase, quoted elsewhere on DU, is attributed to the founder of the AIP, Reportedly, Ms. Palin was not only a member of that outfit, but was present at it's conventions! I'm still Googling it for veracity, but it appears to be correct.

I agree fully with other posters on DU, that her children should be OFF LIMITS, but THIS is relevant to the discussion!

16. Yup, saw that too! Loved it!
Julian Epstein did it, several times, and he wasn't weak about it at all. He was going for jugular and I got the feeling he'll keep doing it.

I'm surprised too, that somebody had the nerve to latch on to that. But I'm glad. That's a winner to bring up.

Palin's UNPATRIOTIC. That won't wash with most voters. Even fundies.

24. the VERY Conservative Daily Telegraph of London is now running the story
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 06:38 AM by Douglas Carpenter
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/johnmccain/2667214/John-McCains-running-mate-Sarah-Palin-was-in-Alaskan-independence-party.html

The Telegraph (frequently called the Toryagraph)has long and deep links to the British Conservative Party and could, never - ever be accused of having a bias against McCain:

John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin was in Alaskan independence party

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/johnmccain/2667214/John-McCains-running-mate-Sarah-Palin-was-in-Alaskan-independence-party.html

"News of Mrs Palin's former membership comes as the latest in a string of potentially embarrassing disclosures about her past.

The party has lobbied since the 1970s for the right to hold a referendum on whether Alaska should secede from the United States. Its motto, "Alaska First", contrasts sharply with the John McCain campaign slogan: "Country First."

It seeks "the complete repatriation of the public lands, held by the federal government, to the state and people of Alaska" and aims to be "self-sufficient" by using profits from Alaskan oil and gas resources. It claims that the vote held in 1958 which led to Alaska becoming the 49th state of the US was corrupt and did not offer a proper choice.

While it is thought that Mrs Palin officially left the party to become a Republican in 1996, she recorded an address for its convention earlier this year in which she said: "I share your party's vision of upholding the constitution of our great state" and told members to "keep up the good work".

Lynette Clark, the chairman of the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP), confirmed to ABC News that Mrs Palin and her husband Todd had both been both members and attended at least one party convention.

"When she joined the party our platform was right under her nose, " Mrs Clark said. "I can't understand why in God's name she has aligned herself with a candidate who opposes the development of our republic and Alaska's resource wealth," she added.

... this might not be so critical, but her speech to the convention earlier this year sorta seals the deal.
