Vetted or not, either way McCain looks bad. So far, this is a win/win for Obama.

All he has to do is sit back, be sympathetic and look Presidential. If McCain vetted Palin, he made a phenomenally bad decision by choosing her for his running mate. It really calls his decision making skills into question. If he didn't vet Palin, he made a phenomenally bad decision which was also poorly informed. He still looks like shit.

My god, for the first time in eight years I am just going to sit back and enjoy politics for awhile.

Obama is saying "Would you like more rope? A bigger shovel?"

This really isn't surprising. The McCain campaign has been a disaster from day one and the only reason he is about to get the nomination is due to the horrifically bad Repub field. Remember he gained ground by stopping his campaign.

3. You know, players in the GOP have to be backing away from him like he has the plague.
The people who want to be doing business in Washington next January have to be reading the writing on the wall and starting to hedge their bets. I wonder how much worse this is going to get for him.

4. I will wait until the day after we vote on this one.
Frankly who cares about what her dau. did. Every one in their right mind know that the GOP people have as many sins as the Dem. People are just people. I wonder at people who hope to get a sinless Pres. It will never happen. I think she was put on to sort of make every one think McCain was out of the box and do some thing to get the news back on him. It has worked big time.

9. Bingo. People keep acting like her daughter is her biggest problem. The weird thing is
it ISN'T. That says a lot about how bad a choice this was.

8. I'm not even talking about that. We are FOUR DAYS into her being chosen
and are averaging about 1.5 scandals a day. NOT including the stuff about her daughter. Her daughter doesn't matter to me...but you can damn will bet it will matter to a lot of 'them'.

5. That's why the folks here at DU must press on regardless of what some people say

I don't care if digging up all this information on Palin looks mean spirited. It's working and we must press on.

10. on the vetting
I think it was Dobson and those types who actually did any "serious" vetting. Dobson has been desperate for some woman to be in this position. Of course, having those types in charge of your vetting process tells me that McCain is completely senile.

12. I do not think they do much of this stuff. Look at Bush's Vice Pres.
Go back and see how they checked him out. Some other rules work on this place on the ticket.
