McCain chose Palin to win the secessionist "South will Rise Again" vote. Now it all makes sense. As he saw his numbers in key states that have typically gone to GOP, he chose a woman who has actively supported a party whose main platform is getting Alaska ripped from our country and removing a star from our precious flag.

I think it will backfire. The vast majority of Americans in this country would like to keep ALaska a state.

I don't think she was vetted AT ALL. I think his choice was made out of pure haste, and he is now learning, along with us, what an albatross she is. He choose poorly.
