Did Palin exploit her daughter? |
|
Did Palin announce her daughter's pregnancy to deflect the rumors about Trig? Why didn't she just come out and say, "The baby is mine. Here's the birth certificate," and leave Bristol out of it. While I agree this issue is over the top in some ways, it has become an issue, and it's unseemly that Sarah Palin should use her daughter's pregnancy as a way of deflecting the questions rather than answer the questions herself. Shouldn't her handling of this undergo more scrutiny?

Sarah is a good mother because she supports her daughters teen pregnancy.
Yeah, That is exploitation.

5. This woman has a clear pattern of recklessness ... |
|
in her life - drawing national attention to her teen daughter's pregnancy is a drop in the bucket. The rest of it is the usual intellectually dishonest republican kitchen sink spin.

7. I agree with that, but to assert that palin |

announced "her daughter's pregnancy to deflect the rumors about Trig?" is just plain silly.
GDP should be renamed the Democratic Enquirer.

12. Not silly - They said themselves |
|
The campaign itself said that they were announcing the teenagers pregnancy in response to rumors about Trig.

She cold have and should have left Bristol out of the discussion about Trig.
There are many other way she could have ended the rumors. The way you suggest (birth certificate) is one. She could have had the doctor(s) and nurses that helped in the delivery and cared for them in the hospital talk. She could have come out with unambiguous photographic evidence oh her pregnancy.
She chose none of those, she chose to use Bristol and, I might add, used her story in a way that does not 100% destroy the original rumor of Bristol as mother to Trig. Trig was born in early April and this is early September, nearly 5 months. According to their statement Bristol is about 5 months pregnant. How close is "about" in their story? One week? One month? Two months? It is not unheard of for a mother to conceive soon after birth.
Bristol is a victim here. She is not the victim of those digging around in her mother's bio. She is the victim of her ambitious, selfish mother.

9. A politician who cared about their pregnant teenager would not run for Vice President |
|
A politician who cared about her daughter's mental and physical wellbeing would have declined the invitation to serve on the ticket, period. Subjecting a pregnant teen to the tender mercies of the national media is not being a good parent, period.

Anything's possible, especially given the way their mother is trying to play the issue. There's something weird about Palin and her family.
