Can someone explain to me why Kay Bailey Hutchinson was not picked. |
|
I keep hearing how they vetted Palin so well and McCain decided she was the one, but doesn't Hutchinson give all the same with much more experience? So why wouldn't he go with the more obvious choice?

11. PLEASE STOP WITH THE KBH IS PRO-CHOICE - SHE IS NOT PRO-CHOICE |
|
How can anyone with a NARAL rating of 7% be pro-choice. KBH supported all the activist judges that Bush selected so she is anti-choice as they come. I think KBH was ok with Stem-Cell which does NOT make her pro-choice.

not someone looking to overturn Roe V Wade.

23. There was a statement where she said she agreed with it up till the point of viability |
|
But yes, several pro life websites where telling mccain not to pick her because, despite the 7%, she had went on record as saying she basically agreed with it and didn't want to overturn roe vs wade.

32. Yeah McCain not only hates her but... |
|
...She would be considered a washington insider and not a maverick.
He wanted primarily a maverick, with secondary qualifications of experience, hence why his favorites were Joe Lieberman, and Tom Ridge. Experieinced Mavericks. When he was told that the fundies would riot at the convention if he picked a pro choice candidate he had to change.
So he changed to wanting a maverick washington outsider, who was pro-life and favored by fundies. He was considering Pawlenty and I forget who...someone else who fits those, but they were considered 'boring' and when Obama made such a splash they panicked. A pro-life maverick wouldn't do if they weren't 'exciting' or 'fresh'. Pawlenty was seen as plain and boring....A woman however they saw as being a 'story'.
so a maverick washington outsider, pro-life and fundie approved, and a woman....The only one on their list was Palin.
Unfortunately it turns out she's not really a maverick, but a flip flopping sessecionist mired in ethics scandals her entire career, with questionable family values, and a lack of experience to the point that their talking points include 'alaska is close to russia', and that she was a part time city council member for an exurban bedroom community of 5,000 people, as an example of her experience.

10. Do you know how hard it was to find anyone who is dumber than McLoon? |
|
KBH is not my cup of tea, and as an American I have to question anyone still in the GOP, but KBH is Smarter than a room full of John McCains and all his staff put together.
He wanted someone who would follow orders, and appear normal, yea right, normal.

Hutchinson doesn't excite the base. She's not a whackjob fundie like Palin. Plus, Palin's prettier.
And more and more, it's not looking like it was "his" choice to make. He wanted Lieberman or Ridge.

and there is nothing of merit to say about Kay - intelligent evil is still evil.
Unfortunately, it really is about appearances - and a tissue paper thin ploy to be appealing to women who think they can relate better to a youthful female veep than dear beloved Kay, may she rot in a hell full of happy gay married terrorist liberals.

25. In another thread, I posted this from OnTheIssues about Kay |
|
.... In October of 2006 she said that if she had known what we know now about the WMD issue she would not have voted to authorize the Iraq War.
He can't have anyone who is against the war in his ticket.
With Palin having a son who enlisted, she can wave the "I support my son over there" banner and criticize the Cindy Sheehans of this world.
