I actually feel bad for Alaska

I have been to Alaska, and through the town of Wasilla. I spent a couple of weeks all around the Kenai peninsula and driving up to Denali. I love Alaska. I think it's one of the most beautiful states in our country, and I loved how small the towns were.

That said, I know how small Wasilla is. And it was evident to me how close-knit Alaskan families are.

Sarah Palin was not properly vetted. She was a reckless, impulse choice from McCain. And by bringing her to the national spot light without proper vetting, he is forcing a very ugly display, front and center, of many issues that seem, to the rest of the nation, uniquely Alaskan. The "Bridge to Nowhere", "Secessionist Sarah" and Aerial Hunting are just the first that come to mind.

Alaskans must be on a roller coaster ride here. So many of them were so proud to see one of their own chosen as a VP. And now they are watching while this woman is torn to part, piece by piece, by very small sharks, each taking a bite for themselves.

I have a very strong feeling that Palin will eventually bow out of the race, at someone else's behind-the-scenes urging, and Alaskans will end up feeling completely gutted. They are a proud people, and while I don't always agree with many of them, I hate that their state is being put front and center like this. When Secessionist Sarah goes away, the only mark left in history books was that the one Alaskan candidate as VP had to step down. That's not cool.

Shame on you McCain, for jerking Alaskans around like this, all for a gimmick.

It's worth romanticizing. The Palin element is not all there is to Alaska.

Having been there once during the summer solstice I keep wanting to return, during the winter. It's a very, very unique place surrounded by abundantly gorgeous natural landscape and wildlife. It's a shame Palin doesn't appreciate the beauty and prefers instead to hunt animals by plane.

No one in Alaska is plain, that's for certain.

that. emotionally her state and town is feeling like what i live in every single friggin day. when hubby married me it was contractual (I GRIN) that i got to leave this area quarterly to be around normal, teasing kinda, people. now the feel of alaska is what i set in minus the beauty. hence my disappointment. i NEED to be around normal people
