McCain's biggest mistake was picking a running mate that was so new her past couldn't be ignored. |

Just go back and compare this to the Biden selection by Obama. Biden has clearly been vetted throughout his career. Since the VP announcement the media has given him a pass because everyone already knows that he is a good Democrat that talks too much.
On the other hand, Palin is so new that even the media knows nothing about her. EVERYTHING about her past will be looked over as a potential story.
This was a really bad idea.

This is, after all, the flip-side of the entire panoply of elements in a "social ideology" that propels marriage and sexual relations into the PUBLIC sphere. I really don't get the idea that such an examination of her "RECORD" (which is, by OUR definition, PERSONAL) is off-limits when she places such things on her platform. It's not those who'd investigate whether she "walks the walk" of HER proclaimed values; it's HER choice to claim they're grist for public examination!
