If Palin is thrown under the bus, McCain is over |
|
His lack of judgement will have been thoroughly vetted. If Palin stays, McCain is over, Her continued vetting will show that he makes important decisions based on desperation.
This is a win win for Obama and the world.
More popcorn please!!

15. Media wants Palin/McCain to go-just business-start over and lie to win. |
|
They're seizing the moment, and still not our friends. Romney they/big business can love. The POW factor has run its bogus course. Forget the voters and process.
A media complicit coup is the only shot the GOP have. Halperin admitted only a bold choice would do, and he's also not our friend. Still time to bring down our guys in a reality TV moment.
Stay focused and well-armed with our points and fighting spirit.

I think he was counting on Holy Joe being his running mate. |
|
He's so out of touch with the base, it never dawned on him they wouldn't go for it - until Rove stepped in to tell him no. Then, rather than going with a safe but bland wingnut like Pawlenty, he made a colossal blunder with Palin - and he's stuck. Damned if he dumps her, damn if he doesn't. I think she'll be getting tremendous pressure to step aside for "family reasons," but I don't think it will matter. McCain is done.

8. Which is why it won't happen. Don't underestimate her |
|
The convention week may be a net loss for McCain, but Palin has some charisma. She had an 80% approval rating in Alaska. Remember that most voters are either complete morons or else just not very observant. If McCain can put her in the right situations, she can gain some points with the voters.
Nothing that is on the table today is enough to dump her because there is zero chance of winning after dumping her and McCain still has a very good shot at winning with her (despite her).

They are stuck with her. Lets hope that the whole thing keeps snowballing. As it does, Obama's rating will inch higher and higher. Republicans at my work are rolling their eyes when she is mentioned today. Life is good this week.

12. Yup, it will be painted one of two ways: |
|
Either McCain 'surrendered' to the press and the Dems and knuckled under the pressure, or he was never serious about putting up a Fundie nut job in the first place, he was just looking for a headline and it backfired.
Either way the Zealots totally abandon him, and most of his base is gone. And the Independents see he is already 0 fer 1 in major decision making right out of the gate.
She will be on the ticket in Nov if it kills them. And it just might.

14. If he abandons her, it should be a "women's issue" too |
|
Dems should point out that "as soon as times got tough, he dumped the would be first woman vice president." (It implies without actually stating that he won't be there for the women once times get tough.)

16. If McCain picked Ridge right out of the box, the fundamentalists would revolt. If McCain picks Palin |
|
and then she withdraws because the "liberal media" attacked her family, and then McCain picks Ridge -- McCain can defend his selection of a pro-choice Ridge against attack from fundamentalists by saying "I picked your first choice, and she had to withdraw, and I needed someone who was ready to go to fill in her spot -- Ridge was the only guy who was previously vetted and ready to go."
