Christianity = Protestants + Catholics + a motley assortment of Christian orthodox churches in Russia, Eastern Europe, Greece, Syria, etc.

Protestants = Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Baptists, United Church of Christ/Congregationalists, Anabaptists (Amish and Mennonites and others), and a whole motley assortment of snake handlers and Pentecostals and holy rollers

Episcopalians are kind of in between Catholics and Protestants, I think.
Unitarian/Universalists encompass all of the above plus all other traditions including Wicca.

She appears to have spent most of her childhood at the Wasilla Assembly of God Church. Her youth pastor, Mike Boatsman, formerly served as the Alaskan Superintendent of the Assembly of God Church. Earlier this year, at a gathering of Alaskan members of the denomination, Boatsman and Mike Rose, the pastor of the Juneau Christian Center, laid hands on Palin (a Christian symbol of consecration) and prayed for her and the state of Alaska.


I trust that mainstream evangelicals are going to deliver on this one.

While most at DU look at "Christian right wing" as some sort of monolith, a monolith it is not.

A good portion of the evangelical camp enjoys their political alliance with, say, Assembly of God, Seventh Day Adventists, and a few other denominations; and while independent Baptist congregations can be all over the map on practices and doctrines; a goodly swath of them, if pressed, will tell you that "speaking in tongues" as it is practiced among Pentecostals is heretical.
