"So, Sarah, do you want the gig?" (Dan Hicks, Sausalito, yesterday)
Dan Hicks and the Acoustic Warriors (no kidding, and the old broads looked GREAT) at The Sausalito Art Festival, yesterday.

"We love these daytime gigs, because we get to wear our shades.
Gigs....
It's all about usage, you see. Vernacular.
But not just everyone can get away with it, you know.
Can you imagine John McCain asking, 'So, Sarah, do you want the gig or not?'."

Dan was all over the OldMan, all afternoon.

And then Richard Thompson came on and shredded the 'pubs. At one point he asked the crowd if anyone there really enjoyed sex, saying that sex is what this election is all about. Richard said that, in the wake of yesterday's revelations, that sex would probably be made illegal if the GOP steals the next election, too.

By the way, if you are not aware of Richard Thompson you should change your ways (do a YouTube search).

4. As in....
the Acoustic Warriors was his first band (pre- Hot licks).

And they sounded just like they did 40 years ago.

3. Damn, that sounded like a NICE show!
I used to be in the Bay Area and would stand jaws agape watching Richard Thompson and his guitar skills and and acidic wit...

6. Yeah, and Sunday featured thew Nevilles....
following Commander Cody.

Junior Brown tore the skin off the place on Saturday.

But Richard was the best, and in the best form I've ever seen him.

I know my way around the fretboard and can hold my own with just about anyoune. But every time I hear Richard, I don't even get close to any of my guitars for a few days. I once told him that if he could ever learn to play slide like me, that I might let him in the band.

You shoulda been there, it was absolutely perfect.
