When do the parties have to submit their candidates to get
them on the ballot?
I'm wondering whether the Republicans will be stuck with Palin if they fail to replace her within the next week or so.

1. Good question
It is 50 state elections so filing deadlines do vary. I would think that any change would have to be this week before she's nominated. Otherwise, it's just too messy.

So, I would guess she stays and they try to gut it out.

2. And since we don't directly elect
the president and vice-president, but simply vote for a slate of electors, it doesn't really matter if there's a change of VP candidate no matter how late in the cycle.
