WTF? McCain raised 47 million in August!
John McCain's campaign said Monday that it had raised $47 million in the month of August – his biggest monthly total to date – nearly matching Barack Obama’s July fundraising figure of $50 million.

The Obama campaign has not yet released his August total.

McCain’s team has said the presumptive Republican nominee has raised millions since asking Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to join the ticket last week.

The Arizona senator has opted to receive public campaign funding, which means he cannot fundraise for his campaign after September 1 – although the Republican National Committee’s Victory fund can continue to raise and spend money on his behalf.

Ugh. If they get 47 million, we get 80! I just donated $5. I know it's small but that's all I could give right now. Surely we can all contribute a bit! Let's go Obama!

10. Sorry, but this works to his advantage ...
he gets millions of money just handed to him from the government AND gets to raise funds through the sideline groups - fact is, this is going to amount to political welfare - the government providing the supplemental funds to allow McCain to have pretty much the same money behind his campaign as BO, WITH THE ADDED BONUS that half the money will be with 527s that can attack BO with even more ridiculousness than McCain has attacked him with McCain being able to play innocent.

The money is just shifted to the Republican National Committee as well as the state parties.

21. If you look at it objectively it is not "a losing cause"
The polls in all of the battleground states are very close and it is still over two months to the election. Anything can happen. I have been involved in a lot of elections and I look at things as they are not as I want them to be. But that is just me.

7. It says the numbers have not been tallied officially. I think they are lying
and then when they announce later that it was not that much the media will have moved on.

15. LOL!
I checked, no report from the Obama campaign. I have a feeling it will be good, because of Obama's convention and his speech. I'd guess around 55-60 million.
