Is The Media trying to save McCain by picking up the Palin stories?
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 02:23 PM by cui bono
They leave him alone and have a love fest with him during the primaries.

They leave him alone on all his Sunni/Shiite gaffs after the primaries.

And yet they jump on all the Palin stories. But BEFORE she is the actual nominee. I wonder if they are trying to save him by bringing this all up so quickly so that he can have her pull out before the actual nomination that would be televised and linger on youtube videoland forever to haunt him.

1. Listened to talk of the nation. They had a couple apologists
to soften the Palin story. And for the tenth time in a couple weeks I turned off my radio while on NPR.

3. Yeah, I can't listen to NPR anymore very much.
I stopped donating to the "public" station that carries NPR in my area. They run commercials from corporations, they don't need my money and don't represent me anymore. I only donate to my local Pacifica station now.

6. Wish we had Pacifica. Our "public" station carries damn near as many
commercials as the "for profit" stations. I am a real radiophile and most of it is unlistenable anymore. Except on the computer.

2. If McCain has to pull her, it looks like his judgement and temperament are bad
Does not look good for him. Media cannot save him.

I think it is more likely media, especially print, was SHOCKED by this -- like maybe McCain went too far.

5. I'm hoping this is a wake up call to them.
And they realize this is serious business and they better get down to it.

But I can't help but be suspicious.

4. Only on DU could a media feeding frenzy targeted at the Republican VP be seen as evidence
that the media are supporting John McCain.

7. Only on DU could progressives still not believe that elections are stolen in this country.

It's a suspicion that I posted since I thought it would be interesting to see what others might think about it. So what? It is a message board after all. As if nothing like that could possibly happen? Please tell me you don't just take things at face value without some examination.

13. Nothing. It was a stupid reactionary response

to what I thought was a stupid reactionary and dismissive comment. Sorry about that.

Still, what's the problem with bringing up something for discussion? You really don't think the media has been used to orchestrate political theater? Don't you think all of this would be much worse for McCain if she is televised being nominated? It was just a thought.
