Charlie Cook: Palin choice "either brilliant or insane and I'm leaning toward insane"
On Charlie Rose last night. Longtime pro-McCain hack Mark Halperin is quite aghast as well, agreed with Charlie.

My take: choice either so-so (no effect) or disastrous... I see no upside at all.

3. Charlie's a pretty conservative guy.
But I think he's leaning the right way on this one.

4. Aside from Hunt, Halperin and Rose, I was quite aghast at some of the comments on the panel,
especially Cokie Roberts (she of the comment that Palin indeed has much more pertinent experience than Obama!) and the other right wing spinning operatives that they had there. For the most part, the hour show made me quite ill!

6. Agree... but even Cokie wasn't in usual full-throated McCain love. Doris kept
above the fray mostly.

9. i saw that show last night, Mark Halpern was grinning like the cat that swallowed
the canary, "In the next 72 hours the McCain campaign is going to find things about Palin that they did not know" and the way he said, shit eatin grin and all did not make it sound good for McCain but hella fun for the journalists.
