Palin is a highly decorated military commander.

She led the Alaskan National Guard to victory in the Battle of the Bulge during World War Two, liberating Granada in the process and further preventing Abdul Qader Khan from selling off more nuclear secrets to the Sandanistas who were meeting with Bin Ladin, Saddam and this girl I used to have a crush on in my writing class but who turned out to be a horrible jerk.

So I for one, applaud Sarah Palin's service to our country and her extensive national security background, as the survivor of a couple of foreign airports, I can tell you just how good it is to be back home in the United States - except those times when we want to you know secede from the United States - and be all footloose and duty-free.

John McCain was a POW.

10. I never knew that
McCain was a POW? He's so modest about it, I've never heard that story.

21. oh he's a humble hero, he'll be the first one to tell you that
Over and over and over. While on tv. In one of his ghost-written books. On his website. While being interviewed for a Vietnam documentary. In statements from his campaign, Out on the trail. The man flat out just doesn't want to talk about it.

14. It's all part of McCain's master plan.
You just can't question his judgment. For over five years he wasn't even allowed to have judgment!

25. poor woman I almost feel like I shouldn't crack so many jokes
It's really McCain's grotesque judgment that put her in this position, and she was probably so excited just to have the chance that she accepted. But honestly, wtf was he thinking? Granted, I did say ALMOST, so I still have plenty more posts like this in the arsenal. But it is kind of like shooting fish in a barrel.

13. I noticed that you very cleverly left out the part where she became Miss Alaska, but
stepped down immediately after winning the crown. This was right before she shipped out to the Bulge, and she didn't want her unit distracted by having a Miss AK in their midst. The first runner-up gratefully took over the crown and served her state admirably, while Palin went on to glory in The War.

18. Reminds me of the 19%-ers who thanked Bewsh "for his service" in his staged 2004 appearances.
Guardin' our homeland against the mighty air fleet of the ubiquitous Cong . . . BRAVERY that none of us could ever IMAGINE! Certainly not even like that wussbag John Kerry, who only volunteered to be a human target on a Swift Boat. PFFFFFT. Here's a box of band-aids. Call George Bewsh when you get some REAL heroics on your record, Comrade!

23. those bandaids
If there is one thing that pisses me off it's that chickenshit stuff. The party of patriotism don't exactly respect Vets too much, that's for sure. I interviewed a homeless vet the other day, he lives in the dirt, pretty much. You don't see any RWers clamoring for guys like that, they just deny they exist.

Preferrably big donors and gung-ho useful idiots who'll peddle the fear and hate.

I wonder if we'll see Fat Pat Peale and that vile purple heart band-aid making it's way up her 74 chins:

Yup, she was my platoon leader. We called her Snake. Don't remember why, but she was a tough motherfucker. We all took her for a lifer. But she was definitely a juicer - once saw her down a half bottle of Jack D in 5 minutes then disassemble, clean and reassemble an M1A1 in the field, in the dark.

Long story short, we were at Khe Sanh when the shit hit the fan. Sarah goes apeshit. She singlehandedly took out 7 Charlie platoons and once shot a low-flying MiG out of the air with an RPG! A fuckin' RPG! Can you believe that shit?

Here's the only picture I have of those days. That's Snake (er, Sarah) on the right.

She may be a Section 8 case, but she saved my ass in beaucoup firefights.

Anyways, that's my story.
