BREAKING: Palin Business Shut Down by State
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/2/174313/9403/46/583730

Sep 02, 2008 at 02:48:00 PM PDT
The WaPo is now reporting that Sarah Palin and her husband were part owners of a business that was shut down by the state for noncompliance with state regulations:

State records show the business ran into trouble with Alaska's division of corporations business and professional licensing after Palin became governor of the state in 2006.

A Feb. 11, 2007 letter to the governor's business partner advises that the car wash had "not filed its biennial report and/or paid its biennial fees," which were more than a year overdue.

The warning letter was written on state letterhead, which carried Palin's name at the top, next to the state seal.

On April 3, 2007, the state went further and issued a "certificate of involuntary dissolution" because of the car wash's failure to file its report and pay state licensing fees.

72. Depends of a few more facts. Was the car wash still operating while out of compliance?
If so, then it's potentially a major deal.

If the car wash was defunct even before the final letter, then maybe not as big of a deal.

My guess is, with the kind of shoot from the hip loose with the facts personality we are dealing with, if someone were to look closely at things like her car wash, they would find out stuff. Two months isn't much time for deep scrutiny, though.

The big oil puppet masters are still in control. On the day she was asked to join the ticket, she OKed a $26 billion dollar Alaskan gas pipeline that has been on the back burner for three decades.

I started a thread on the topic...

This was on Wikipedia (for what it's worth)

snip....

In August 2008, Palin signed a bill into law giving the state of Alaska authority to award TransCanada Pipelines $500 million in seed money and a license to build and operate the $26-billion pipeline to transport natural gas from the North Slope to the Lower 48 through Canada.

If that's what I think it is it doesn't necessarily cause the business to shut down it just reverts to being a sole proprietorship. With the correct paperwork you can get the business reinstated. It is a rookie mistake often made by people who are INEXPERIENCED in business or disorganized. If you can't handle an annual filing report should you really be VP of the USA?

62. What about the business she started a few years back (during her 3-4 year period of unemployment)
that she named "rouge cou" - French for "redneck".

65. corporations are normally dissolved that way...

if you don't pay your annual fee, the corporation is involuntary dissolved. It doesn't have any particularly interesting significance.

Was the car wash operating?

88. Right, that is the question - a company going out of business will just stop filing
and let the state dissolve it.

Thank you McCain for making it interesting. You could have gone with boring Pawlenty or Romney. And it would be the same scripted election as the others...new, exciting, change on the left and consistent, boring, sameness on the right. But this is a gamechanger. Wait, the republicans are young, attractive, and extremists?

78. Maybe a conspiracy theory here - but how the f@ck could Rove & co. NOT know all this?!
We could not have written a worse script for the pukes if we tried; there must be a catch?

Or could this train wreck simply be just that....

79. I would think this is a non-issue. Generally licensing fees are very minimal.
and they walked away from the business when she became gov. The notice is probably computer generated.
