I think this whole experience with a Christian crazy must be drivin' McSame nuts. |
|
He knows he needs their votes, but he's also realized that their leaders, those they so love, are crazy as bedbugs. He nominates one, and the problems start showin' up like mice in a grain bin. But if he nominates the people he'd like to--Ridge or Traitor Joe--the RW crazies won't support him.
What's Repug to do?

1. He's planning on keeping her distinctly OUT of the loop ... |

As Randi pointed out today, THAT's her function -- she's another Dumbya, a cheerleader empty (pant)suit.

2. I agree - I think his first instinct to diminish their impact |

in 2000 was more in line with his persona. Except for anti-choice, I do not think he cares a whit for the rest of the wacko agenda and resents their power over his party -- and now him.
He had a choice -- brave it out to get the nomination and then do some of his fabled straight talk to go after Independents who think he is a maverick (even though he is not.)
Choosing Ridge would have done that, and enough wackos would still turn out, plus the swing vote worried about Obama's "experience" and his skin color.
Let us hope that this dependence on the ultra social religious conservatives causes the GOP to finally implode and reassess and return to some semblance of sanity.
