I have obsessed about Palin and ignored arrests at RNC. I feel guilty.

Preemptive arrests of protesters and journalists is obviously unconstitutional. That could be you and me in those paddy wagons! Unjustified detentions are ongoing crimes against the the rule of law and habeas corpus. One more crime for which the Bush administration must pay. I sympathize with the victims.

Here are my two justification for ignoring those threads, given my need to limit my online time:

(1) those bad arrests -- cracking down on Code Pink while the bankrupt Republicans self-destruct -- will result in courtroom reversals and huge awards for those arrested. Plus, the cops on the beat will resent their being misused in that way; look for a police chief or two to get demoted.

(2) the LOLs. The story of McCain's nominating convention -- the Palin family, Gustav, Giuliani, Lieberman -- is hilarious. Fear and Loathing in Minneapolis. Forgive me my macabre sense of humor.
