McCain is running an ad of Obama next to Chris Dodd, to counter Obama's ad of McCain next to Poppy and shrubby.

I guess even McCain has enough sense not to demonize Ted Kennedy while he's fighting terminal cancer, plus Ted is his very good friend, so he needed a surrogate.

Hillary Clinton wouldn't do, because he's got to run around calling the Democrats sexists now.

But Chris Dodd? Professor Chris Dodd? Do most people outside of New England even know his face?

I know who all of the Senators were in the ad, but that is because I am a little more politically minded. People I know didn't even realize that was a McCain ad until the very end. He acts as if he hasn't been working in Washington at all.

Let's be honest. We like and know who Chris Dodd is. But we are the only ones who know who he is. If my non-political wife saw that ad she would turn to me and say "who's that guy?" Of course she knows who Shrub is.
