9. She hasn't been chosen for her |
|
views on the economy, though I suspect she'll do a fine job of rattling off Republican talking points.
There is a reason the RW fundamentalists are so enamored of her. It's all about her socially conservative positions and I doubt there will be much reference to how she really feels or how her beliefs will influence public policy.
She will do for public policy what Dick Cheney did for foreign policy. And just like Dick, it won't be good.

2. I'm sure she will outline her plan for the economy, her timeline for Iraq, |
|
her accomplishments and goals regarding foreign relations, her national security program, and the positive details related to her extensive executive experience.
That ought to kill the first thirty seconds.

5. I would expect Palin to throw a lot of red meat to the hardcore nuts |
|
and mention Hillary Clinton a couple times as one of her "heroes".
She's a decent orator, so maybe she'll do a good job--but no matter what happens the media will begin slobbering over her like dogs. "SHE'S FANTASTIC! WE TAKE IT ALL BACK! THAT SEKRIT MOOOOOOSLIM OBAMA MADE US DO IT! YAY MCCAIN!"

I expect her speech to be aimed at moderates and independents who are checking her out for the first time. The RW already knows what she's about. I doubt she'll be sharing that with the rest of the country.

15. How she took on corruption in AK |
|
How she's a Washington outsider. Whoever writes her speech will be sure it will appeal to the broadest spectrum out there.
She won't mention her fringe views. This will not be a Pat Buchanan culture wars speech. The RW learned their lesson on that kind of rhetoric.
I suspect that if I didn't know the things I know about her, I would come away with a favorable opinion. That's what she's going for.

19. Her fringe views will come out soon enough. |
|
Obama's already got an abortion themed advert out slamming McCain for the views.
If the media (print media at least) keeps up the job it's been doing the last few days everyone who's paying the slightest attention will know that Palin is someone who should never be let near the White House.

18. She dropped Hillary Clinton from her speech after she got booed by a Republican audience |
|
The only reason Palin is on the podium is because of Clinton and the scum-suckers still boo the vaguest reference to her.
Assholes.

7. I expect her speech to be very good. Anybody can give a speech. |
|
Palin competed in the Miss Alaska pageant, meaning that she won other pageants on her way there. She was also a newscaster. I'm sure that she has plenty of experience with public speaking.
Somebody will shove a speech in front of her and she'll memorize it and practice her gestures in front of a mirror. So what.

I am ashamed to admit I had the same thought but without your brilliant addition of motive. If I was a praying person, I'd be praying that at some point this legend-in-her-own-mind gets so full of herself, that she takes the speech boldly where no weak candidate has ever gone before. Goes totally off track from this dumb old boring thing they handed her, and instead really tries to speak with her own voice to the american people.
The only speech I have heard is her first one. I don't know if she is a brilliant speechgiver/maker or not because every time her shrill voice started winding up to that fevered constant pitch, I had to throw my earphones off. If she is serious about this, she has to get a voice coach.

...in fact, I dare say FOX news anchor would be the next logical position for her to go once November rolls around.

21. Matt Scully Is The Speechwriter - Mostly Writes Speeches For McCain... |
|
Matt Scully had already completed the VP speech before Sarah Palin was picked. Of course, he has had to revise it to make references to the her, and the fact that she is a woman.
Sarah Palin was a former sportscaster, so it should not be too difficult for her to read Matt's speech.

20. Yeah, all she has to do is read. |
|
Unfortunately, the talking heads are already saying it will be a "great speech" tonight and how she will "wow the voters" tonight. Ugh...please! She didn't even write it! Call me crazy, but I think candidates should have to write their own speeches. Anyone can regurgitate someone else's words. But everyone will be falling all over themselves after the speech praising her for "knocking it out of the park" and "best speech so far"...blah, blah, blah.
