Why should Palin be VP when she doesn't even know the Lower 48 States?
Palin has only been outside of Alaska how many times? Just to go to college in Hawaii and Idaho, and visit reservist state troops in military bases in Germany and Kuwait? She doesn't know enough about this country. Alaska is as much a part of the U.S. as Hawaii is. She doesn't know the REAL America, the lower 48 states. How can she be VP if she doesn't even know this country? She doesn't know Washington DC, she doesn't know New York City, she doesn't know the Pacific West, she doesn't know the Northeast, she doesn't know the South, and reading about states and cities from textbooks doesn't count. She makes Bush of 2000 look like an experienced traveler. She doesn't know this country so how can she have any allegiance to this country? No wonder why she was part of a secessionist party.

1. Good point. I haven't been to all 50 either, but I've made a
point of making friends with new residents here so I can learn more about their former homes, culture, etc. I'm in south Texas, and takes half a day just to cross the state line.

3. Good for you
It's important to go outside of our own comfort zones as citizens. Knowing each other is going to be the best way to bring our country together. There is no secret to the fact of differences that align with geography.

Exploring our various cultures with respect should be validated, and candidates should have some sense of their country with that in mind.
Our elected officials certainly owe it to us to have some sense of various cultures and voices across the country.

4. Thanks.The more recent friends were from Pakistan and South Africa.
My social life has been pretty stale since they left, though.
