He's a bright enough guy to be an attorney and tough enough to rise thru the ranks in New York City but he never got it going past his desk at City Hall.

He never looked past the paperweight.

There's an awful lot of "Me" and "I" in his address. So far, at least.

This is the Republican propaganda machine at full tilt churning red meat out to the craven nuts half-filling the hall.

It wins him a slap on the back on his way back to his hotel and then, with any luck at all, he disappears from the political scene forever.

I've always considered him to be a back-alley thug, a street-fighter. Tonight's speech kind of drives that home.
