An Alaskan's thoughts on Palin's speech and her false facts...

A few quick points on this speech.

First, I've never seen her so cocky, sarcastic, witty or partisan. Never. I've also never heard her talk about international issues before this speech.

Second, taxes. She raised taxes on the oil industry by millions of dollars and the conservatives in this town loathe her for it.

Third, this speech was designed to not discuss issues but to bait us to attack her so we no longer focus on McCain.

Fourth, the jet she referred to. It was an unpopular move by the former governor and movement to sell it was brewing before she took office. There isn't any content in that 'savings'.

Fifth, the fact is she was for the bridge before she was against it. She campaigned for the bridge and when she got the federal money, she drooped the bridge project and built a road with her money.

Sixth, her ethics law change was luke warm and highly criticized for not going far enough. Truth be told she never prosecuted any corrupt officials - it was the FBI that did it thanks to a former Republican and now current Democrat.

Seventh, she cut special needs funding significantly in Alaska and refused to fund vital programs for early pregnancy.

Eight, she is upset about the media because they are holding her accountable. She isn't used to this in Alaska - she bakes them cookies and calls them on their birthday. (Check the facts!) They have rarely held her accountable in Alaska.

And there's more folks, much more. Truth be told this speech was re done by the republican operatives and, I would bet, Rush Limbaugh.


This isn't politics, its a bad Mrs. Congeniality sequel.


All I can say is focus on McCain and Obama's message. McCain is plagiarizing Obama's message and taking credit for everything he has done to date with his message of change.

4. i dont get the plane thing either, lots of states use ebay

to sell off unwanted property...
here in kentucky not to long ago some politician(name slips me) got in trouble when people found out he had used tax payers money to get him a big luxery car to take trips with when it was un-necessary... so they sold it on ebay to make up for the money lost and gave him a cheap car to use...

I hardly recognized this Sarah. Here in Alaska, she's had to court the Democrats and Independents because of her powerful Republican enemies. Where did this attack dog come from? This performance is going to kill her politically when she comes back to Alaska where she's risen to power on the basis of her likability and bipartisanship. Was this the real Sarah all along?

#9 - Palin endorsed Obama's energy plan only to later remove her endorsement from the state's website after McCain asked her to run with him. If Obama doesn't have an energy plan, why exactly did Palin endorse?

#10 - The Alaska pipeline contract with TransCanada. This was passed by Democrats and Palin with a very, very small amount of support from the republican party. Lyda Green and many others in Alaska have spoke against this over and over again. Truth be told, this line doesn't have permits and most likely won't have any new oil for at least 10 years.

I posted another thread on DU here about Palin but so far it hasn't got any movement.

The link I provided above gives my perspective on Palin and the Alaskan economy and how it relates to John McCain and his understanding of the American economy. In my opinion its another general education piece we should start educating American's on. I really hope someone from the Obama camp or our friendly 527's consider looking at some of this for local state by state advertisement.

Obama's talking points are really the ones we should be using - I'm just trying to give him a hand. :pals:

re-do the tax structure. Especially when the five o'clock news is showing Republican politicians every night on tape being bribed to keep the tax structure low. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out you have to redo the vote for royalties or you look like a co-conspirator.
