2. I think they know that they've lost ...

I think they KNOW they are going to lose this election and swing voters. Palin is there to get the base out so Republicans don't lose races in their "safe" districts.

4. I think you may be right

Mike Murphy nailed it on Michigan the other day. She will help outstate and in Macomb County, and the kind of white working class people people who vote based upon identity politics will eat that resentment of "elites," Obama bashing, and "hockey mom" bullshit right up. Where she doesn't help is in Oakland County, and that's where the presidential election will really be decided this cycle in Michigan. She just covers their asses in reddish-purple counties and districts.

6. The irony is ...

The irony is that so called "redneck" ordinary people have their own form of elitism. Like the way you would be sneered at for serving chili with spaghetti in Texas. They just resent anyone who is intellectual.

The real curse is sneering at arbitrary cultural differences. Beer and pretzels vs. Whine and Cheese. I like Beer and Cheese, does that make me wrong?

7. good point
I've been saying this for years, that "ordinary regular Americans" can be just as elitist, against anything perceived as different.

8. Because you know ...

Because you know if you have a $10,000 bass boat in front of your trailer vs. a $5,000 bass boat in front of your trailer ... you've reached the upper crust.

5. For a coming out speech, it was way over the top: "Hi, That other guy is such prick"
