KTUU Channel 2 Alaska - Palin never this aggressive with an opponent before |
|
During an interview with Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski (her father gave her the senate seat), Lisa stated (correctly) she has never seen Palin go after her opponent like this before. "Perhaps this is the barracuda we've heard about" was her statement if I recall.
Alaska residents have not seen this side of Palin...unless your Trooper Wooten. This attack mode will hurt her in our state when she returns. Here, she has been known to work across the isle and build consensus - not act so aggressive and partisan. By working together, she broke the way the republican party has held Alaska.
Obviously she's changing her colors.

This is exactly how she won her first election as mayor. Divisive politics.

5. Perhaps, but it's not the way she won the governor's seat, |
|
unless you consider breaking from the "corrupt bastards" being divisive politics. While I voted for Tony Knowles in the general, of course, I was happy to see her beat Frank Murkowski and John Binkley in the Republican primary. She was like a breath of fresh air after Frank, and that's no joke.
She's definitely got her issues, but she never went on the attack against Democrats this way here in the state.

If you didn't live here at the time, you wouldn't understand.

I've never seen this side of Palin either. When I met her two years ago, I was campaigning on one side of the street holding a Diane Benson sign and she was on the other with her supporters. We stood in line at the gas station paying for coffee, and she was very nice, down-to-earth, wishing Diane good luck. In fact, a lot of Sarah's supporters supported Diane, too. I just didn't even recognize this woman. It's sad. She's going to tank when she comes back here.

She's just a programmed attack machine now. I wonder if they will ever let her go out unscripted?

12. Definitely more aggressive than her 2006 debates |
|
But that could be a matter of astute adjusting. She didn't have to be aggressive against an incumbent with an approval rating in the toilet, like Frank Murkowski. Palin basically had to avoid implosion. Then in the general election she knew the state favored her party.
This time she is running against the national mood and has to shake things up. I'm not sure she figured that out, but it was necessary from their standpoint.
