My idea on how to approach Palin
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 11:55 PM by scheming daemons
Obama and Biden should not even mention her. In ads, ignore her existence.

Belittle her by focusing only on McCain.

She continually referred to Obama as "our opponent" instead of naming him... like he doesn't really exist.

So.... let's make her cease to exist.

They're trying to make this: Obama vs. Palin.

We have to keep this: Obama vs. McCain/Bush.

Palin is persona non grata. She doesn't exist. She's not WORTHY of political existence.

Did John Kennedy mention Lodge? Did Bill Clinton even mention Dan Quayle or Jack Kemp?

If we keep it Obama vs McCain/Bush.... we'll win in a landslide.

The surrogates should go after her.... .and Obama and Biden should pretend she's invisible.

2. Good idea, but I trust Obma's consultants to handle this the right way.
They've done a great job so far, and I have no reason to think that will stop. I also trust Joe to know exactly how to deal with this twit in the VP debate! I can't wait to see THAT!!!!!

3. Yes, Ignore Tundra Barbie
The woman is a lightweight. Who the HELL would have thought an airhead like Sarah Palin would be a good VICE PRESIDENT, for God's sake? At least Dan Quayle had been to law school, was married to a high-powered lawyer, had worked on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

This woman is about as qualified to be President or Vice President as a local real estate broker. Which is what she reminds me of. No offense to real estate brokers.

4. Exactly. The focus should be Obama vs. McCain. The GOP is trying to create a distraction and goad
Obama into a spat with Palin on the issue of experience. She needs to be ignored.

6. Obama will ignore her, Biden may attack her
But only to call her on the same stuff the MSM is attacking, and to point out her right-of-right stances on abortion, etc.

10. Apart from the single debate with Biden, she won't have a national appearance
before the election. If she doesn't want to look like a complete numbskull and unqualified candidate during a debate with Biden, she'd better not just confine her answers to trashing Barack Obama but she'd better come up with rapid-fire responses to a host of issues, from social, to economic, to international.

And it looks like her handlers will try to avoid any press conferences. I think that if enough negative material piles up about her in the meantime, all but the most rabid Republican will have forgotten the vitriol of her speech tonight in which she really didn't answer the basic question: who is Sarah Palin and SPECIFICALLY what has she accomplished?

18. I don't know that they really wanted a distraction from McCain, but
they have to be welcoming her as one.

I think you are absolutely correct about this; we can talk about her politics and shortcomings until we are blue in the face and it won't sway even 100 votes. Keeping the focus on McCain will drive them nuts--they've got the Palin defensive machine in overdrive. Let 'em crash and burn with it--and we'll quietly slip around and kick the old man where it stings when his gang isn't looking.
