Someone please confirm: Did she REALLY say this?!?
That is, did Sarah Palin really say, in her speech on national television, representing her Party's ticket, words to the effect that...

"...community organizing is not a real job..."

Did she really say that?

Really?

I had something better to watch, y'see, so I regretfully gave Sarah Palin and her naked, calculating political ambition a pass tonight. I figured she'd have a script that would be god, guns & feti, and not much else. I figured she would probably juice the nutbag wing a little but otherwise carefully avoid shoving her foot in the churn.

Was I wrong?

Did she really have the monuMENTAL stupidity to set every community organizer, ex-community organizer, all the beneficiaries of their work, and all of their friends and relatives against the GOPpie ticket? Knowing what community organizers can do, when they're really ginned up about something?

Did she do that?

astoundedly,
Bright

Slammed community organizers. So did Rudy.

Here's the quote:

"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."

14. Waitaminnit, waitaminnit..... "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like...
...a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities,"??

REALLY?

So THAT'S why she had to hire a city manager! To deal with the "responsibilities," eh?

Lordy...

They really did put lipstick on a pit bull.

Naked, calculating political ambition.

In spades.

Nice.

Hey, Sarah! "Family values:" Yer doin' it wrong.

amazedly,
Bright

16. Like screwing up a straightforward property acquisition that's even left the WSJ scratching its head
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 12:08 AM by depakid
From tomorrow's Wall Street Journal:

Her signature project as mayor was the construction of the city's new hockey rink and sports complex. Ms. Palin asked the voters for permission to issue a $15 million bond and pay for it by boosting the sales tax from 2% to 2.5%. The referendum passed by a 20-vote margin, and the city began construction.

"Other people would talk about having a sports complex for years, and they'd still be talking about it if Sarah Palin hadn't come along and built it for them," says Donald Moore, who managed the project.

It turned out, however, that Ms. Palin's administration had fouled up the land purchase and didn't have legal title. The matter ended up in court, and the city ultimately paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest and legal fees. "Wasilla isn't broke, but that put a big dent in our reserve," says City Councilwoman Dianne Woodruff, a Palin critic. "It happened on her watch."

3. Over and over again. She kept saying that as mayor she actually had to do something
as opposed to community organizers. It was sick.

4. She said that being a mayor of a small town was like being a community
organizer, except mayor's have real responsibility.

Like, you know, banning books in a public library.

It was such a cheap, nasty blow and it won't work in the long term.

15. They don't care about people
to them such work is slightly less important to the world than hanging out in front of the liquor store. The drunk wins on fueling the economy.

There's a rope in this little gem to hang themselves with. Maybe a commercial themed 'A levee against the quiet storms'.
Their arrogant contempt for good works and the little people will take a big chunk out of their chances if framed corrrectly.

9. community organizers don't have real jobs
all they do is work with those goddamn poor, mexicans, Negros, and welfare queens. :sarcasm:
In most small towns, mayor is a part time gig. How could hers be so fucking important?

21. There's three kind of mayoral systems, generally....
The "weak mayor" system...the "strong mayor" system...and, the "dumb as a hemlock stump mayor" system. They are not mutually exclusive, however, and either of the first two systems are often employed in conjunction with the third in the ruination of communities.

10. Those community organizers are just a bunch of evil do-gooders!
It's nice to see the Republicans being honest with their true mindset. Let's face it - we've known it for years. Now we can use their words against them in ads.

12. Yup.
Of course, she also dissed her own job as mayor of Wasilla before ("It's not rocket science. It's a budget of $6 million and 53 employees.")

What a hateful creature. She fits right in with the lot of them.

I'm glad that the dumb little Muppet brought some more attention to Obama's history of selfless community service. Serious footbullet bringing that up, IMHO.

19. What she really meant to say was...
Liberal translation.

"Being a community organizer is kinda like being a mayor, except when you're a mayor you actually get paid. Screw those poor people I don't do shit for free." - Sarah Palin.

Being a mayor is like being a community organizer except that when you are mayor, you can fire everyone in town you don't like and censor the public library.

25. The GOP are obnoxious rude, and vicious
The Dem convention hit on all the issues - Obama hit every single issue especially the economy and all the speakers moved me to tears. Contrast that to the GOP convention where all they can talk about are drill, taxes, terror and Obama bashing. But of course no mention of the economy or healthcare or jobs etc. I'm glad to see the conventions back to back like this because the contrast is stricking.
