Dems: WHEN are you going to learn from the pros? SOUND BITE thinking WINS elections?
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 12:16 AM by Gabi Hayes
when are you going to get it?

sarcastic, mendacious, disingenuous, MEMORABLE bullshit is what works

you have the advantage of using TRUTH to make your points

you don't have to lie

but you FAIL the first lesson in deathwar politics: ALWAYS attack. never defend. turn EVERY oppositional question into an attack, even if it doesn't have anything to do with the question. learn from Tucker Bounds, even if he wasn't prepared, he tried to attack back when confronted with a question for which there was no good answer (name ONE command decision Sarah made as CINC of the ANG). be ready to filibuster with the TRUTH about McCain

example: EVERY time William Bennett was confronted with an uncomfortable fact about Sarah, he came back with a charge about Bill Ayers!

that's all you have to do, except you have the great advantage of asking why McCain thinks nobody will pick lettuce for FIFTY DOLLARs an hour.

I've YET to see ANY dem make use of this clip:

http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=rWOZKeOauNI

as I type, yet ANOTHER dem surrogate is on Larry King, ANSWERING charges, rather than going HARD on the offensive....STOP playing marbles

You gotta understand, as little as a year ago, Democrats NEVER EVER went on the offensive on anything. They existed solely as the party that got swept into power when lots and lots of people were really pissed at the Republicans. Some Democrats haven't fully adapted to this whole "trying to win" thing.

3. I agree with that, but I will tell you, Biden is very good at short sound bites!
I think in the nest day or so, you will hear some good ones! I wish I was as good and could make some suggestions, but I'm not. Thus still a poor slob.

4. Biden's Giuliani noun/verb/911 is a perfect example to support your point.
And now, nobody can look at Rudy without thinking of that quip - and being hyper-sensitive to his mention of 9/11.

9. read the link about Rove and Bernays I posted above. it's very elemental
marketing/PR

we don't WANT to think if we don't have to....that might separate us from the herd

the more insecure a person is, the more likely he is to hide amongst the crowd

idiots that vote against their best interests fall into that category

14. You're right. You've summed it up perfectly. But it's like we keep trying
to give them more credit than they have proven they deserve.

7. We did a better job in Denver than Boston but we still were not all-out A-holes
like the rethugs act. I think it is time to kick our frothing mouths up a notch.

8. It sure does. But I think Obama is going to change all of that.
He is exemplary. And it shows. And everyone knows it. And people are attracted to it.

Now watch this drive!

11. righto...they could START by calling them LIARS for every lie they tell
cite the lie, cite the truth, and KEEP CALLING them liars, and CHALLENGE them to prove they're NOT LIARS

challenge them, IOW, put them on the DEFENSIVE

swiftboating KILLED Kerry, cause it put him on the defensive. he never recovered

12. That's why John Kerry was such a pathetic choice
There was no such thing as a memorable sound bite, not for the positive. "...for it before I voted against it" and "stuck in Iraq" are what he's known for. Everything else was rambling road.

It's also why it was simple for me to predict Sarah Palin would be a hit during her speech. I watched her 2006 debates and got to know her style, which includes sound bite bursts. We may mock the eBay line but I guarantee it shows up in plenty of beauty parlors tomorrow.

community organizing experience

instead of calling the attacks DESPICABLE, she meekly defended his work

not ONE attack on the disgusting character assassination that pugs constantly purvey, because they can NOT win on ANY issue

it's very very saddening

when are they going to wise up?
