So I've heard tonight's speeches were like the 92 Buchanan "Culture War" speech, except more of 'em.

Just insane levels of hatemongering, contempt for the poor and non-Republicans etc.

Is this true? I'm glad I didn't watch because I'm feeling very calm and already donated today and will do more in the coming days.

1. It's only going to get worse. They aren't going to go away without a
fight. Rudy's zircons of wisdom were a preview.

2. thank you.....isn't it amazing that his speech today seems mainstream?
back then, it was considered one of the reasons 43 lost the election

now, they're brillian, hard hitting

not mean spirited, paranoid, mendacious, narcissistic, xenophobic, irrational, hateful, jingoistic, mephitic

I can hardly stand it

4. I remember watching the 92 speech live on TV. Utterly horrified.
It seemed as though every last vestige of love, hope, kindness were all being sucked out of the universe.

It did feel to me that Bush Sr.'s campaign was being physically smothered as that speech was given.

3. Yes it's true.
The little I could tolerate was jaw-dropping in it's nastiness. Rudy was a complete asshole - shockingly so. But right after the speech, as the rest of the panel sat mute in disgust or whatever rendered them speechless, Pat Buchanan jumped right in to praise the speech as historic, inspirational, blah, blah, blah.

It really was a hatefest and I hope it bites them in the ass big time. Family values, Christian love and compassion,
country first - what a horrible joke!
