Did Palin wear an Israeli flag pin on her lapel tonight?
I'm just a wee bit puzzled by what in my mind looks like an Israeli Flag Pin:

This appear similar to the lapel pin she wore here:

====

Am I seeing things that aren't there? And if I'm seeing what I'm think I'm seeing why on this night of all night's would she wear such a lapel pin?

Some say it's the "Alaskan Flag" but that looks entirely different:

So, can anyone share with me an explanation of what would be a really odd thing to do on such a "red, white, and blue" night?

3. And in her speech she AGAIN put her son and his whole unit
in jeopardy by talking about their deployment date.

What a great mom. :sarcasm:

7. I found a "blue star mom" lapel pin, looks like this...

Doesn't look the same as what's in the other photos but would be a reasonable explanation. Meh...I'm still curious.

11. That's probably how it should be worn, too.
It's a banner, not a flag, so it would hang. Traditionally, military families hang these on their doors when a family member is deployed. Gold stars represent a soldier killed in action.

It dates back to World War 2, I believe.

4. Blue Star?
In your second photo that's definitely the Israeli flag in the window and sure looks like it on her lapel.

In other photos I've seen of her, she is wearing the blue star, which indicates a family member of someone serving overseas in the military:

However, what she had on tonight certainly looked more like the Israeli flag. Maybe she's confusing the two?

8. That would be kind funny if she was mixing it up, but I bet you are right...the blue star mom thing
sounds reasonable.

Looks like she's got some Israeli's confused as well:

10. A "Blue Star Mother" has lost a child. This is an active duty Mother's pin.

12. "Gold Star" has lost a child. Blue has one serving, or more traditionally, one deployed. nt.

14. I didn't watch the speech,
but it does appear that she is wearing an Israeli flag pin, and that's definitely an Israeli flag hanging in her office. This is a not-so-subliminal message to her Fundie base. They don't support Israel per se, but they believe that all Jews need to return there, and either convert (to Christianity) or be killed - and then Jesus can return. (Or something like that.)

She's wearing it to shore up support among Southern Baptists, Church of Godders, etc. Scary, scary shit.
