1. I thought about going to the Ron Paul convention. I figured it would be a good time.
There are more Ron Paul signs in Texas than McCain signs.

2. I believe the expected turnout was indeed higher than the RNC.
And for what it's worth, "caribou barbie."

3. I still see more Ron Paul than McCain stickers on cars in
my So Cal area. McCain stickers are, in fact, very rare. Lots of Obama though.

4. I think the GOP is trying to ignore Ron Paul, but they are in BIG trouble
Jesus, 15,000 people for a rally in Minnesota? McSame is toast.

22. This summer we drove around a good chunk of Oregon (lots of rural areas)
I saw one McCain bumpersticker, no McCain yard signs, several Ron Paul signs/stickers, one Hillary Holdout House (Hillary stuff prominent everywhere in their yard in a very rednecky area -- interesting), and lots of Obama support in the Willamette Valley and some on the coast (and of course you can't look anywhere in Portland without seeing Obama support).

But, anyway, yeah -- Ron Paul seems way more popular than McCain with the rural folks here.

23. Last winter we were visiting relatives in a Las Vegas
suburb and Ron Paul yard signs, bumperstickers, and billboards were abundant. He really struck a chord with the libertarian types.

5. Ron Paul's was certainly more enthusiastic
I don't know if it had more people but they were really having a good time. I watched it on CSPAN2, they went after both parties but they went after the RePUKES with a vengeance. :bounce:

8. If we draw off just 5% of the Puke voters from McSame, we're ok.
Hell, 3% between him and Bob Barr.

11. I heard 10,000 at the "alternate" Republican convention.
This is not being reported. All the fracas about Democratic unity and the Republicans have ZERO.

15. Yup

Call it the real Republican convention.

At least that is how Ron Paul, a US congressman for Texas, and his supporters billed their campaign's Tuesday night "rally for the republic", in which they called on the party to "return to its roots".

From the looks of it, Paul, who suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination in June, could almost be accepting the party's presidential nomination himself.

Almost 15,000 people came from all over the country to hear him speak.

Paul, who spoke at the gathering on Tuesday night, was joined by an ensemble of right-leaning politicians, thinkers, artists and media personalities, from US television host Tucker Carlson to Jesse Ventura, the former Minnesota governor.

Their problem? Ventura, a former pro wrestler put it quite simply: "Both parties are destroying our country."

16. He said 12,000 on Glenn Dreck this morning...
also said he was not in negotiations with McCain, that one representative from his campaign tried to throw him a bone and he told them to go pound sand.

like we did to Nader in 2000, they shall see the protest vote lose them the election.
