Biden knows what he's doing.

I'm betting it's a little bit of the old rope-a-dope.

It's the graciousness of praising an opponent you're going to annihilate. It's okay.

Biden has to tone himself down to accomodate. The whole point is, he needs to dispel any idea of her being an innocent victim so he needs give her some props. Further more it gives the Dems some love from the GOP side or for those who are tinkering on where to slide if at all. Then the lastly, it's better to praise and this goes back to my first statement because it projects the view that she is strong, and can handle politics so Biden can lay into her.

Again the idea is to build her a figmental wall of strength, power, and knowledge, which she's said not to have by the Republicans just by the fact that every criticism she is met with is classed as sexism. Once that is built, taking it a part in a debate when without having to be warned.

Obama was never rude or cruel to HRC, but then HRC was never labeled a light weight either, however Obama was always a bit sincere with her. I get the feeling Biden won't share the same feelings about Palin.

5. He is doing the right thing.
Do we want change? Yes. The Dems are trying to make the point that the Repukes have no plan to make life better for Americans who are suffering. We can not fall into the trap. This Palin shit will be over with by next week. They will need to put her ass out there in the media circuit to take questions directly and not have the benefit of a teleprompter and a speech written by the Bush speech writers.

8. Stephenapoulus said Democrats were scared of the charge of sexism
I think we shouldn't pile on.

I didn't think he defended her at all. He just said some of the media's questions were over the top.

It is true some of them are.

Democrats are fair. When conservatives are nasty, it just makes Democrats look like we are much more angelic than we are.

He did talk about the substance that was lacking too.

30. Biden should point out that "sexism" is treating someone differently because of
the fact that she's a woman ... so he should not pull punches, and Palin should not expect the press to treat her gently ...

Because WE aren't attacking her for her family, WE are attacking her for being inexperienced and now we can attack her for being bombastic.

Attack her for being bombastic? LOL! Yeah, that'll work. Biden fell into a trap when he endorsed the puke claims of sexism on the part of the media. It's a canard, genius.

11. I'm assuming he's building it up the case for sympathy.. Making him
seem very sympathetic and uderstanding.. taking to task the media and their sexism.. standing up for women's issues (because he would need to make the women of this country sympathetic to himself). AND once the debates occur, no one could say Joe was being sexist.. he defended her whole heartedly against the wolfish media.

14. He's taking the high road...
...her delivery was very good, HOWEVER, it was the same old rhetoric that we have been hearing for more than thirty years. This is a very good tactic, and should prove to be the winning tactic.

Joe Biden, "This is a Karl Rove kind of deal, and she is doing it skillfully." But he mentioned nothing about the middle class, nothing about where the terrorists live, nothing about how to restore our standing in the world, etc. (paraphrased except for quotes).

What's strange is McSame is giving credence to the story with his threat of a lawsuite.

I think it's his way of dumping her as soon as he can

21. Don't you get it? Let HER be the bitch who attacks without substance. BIDEN
defended her, then went after the lack of substance in the speech. I read the comments mentioned in the CNN response thread. With few exceptions, people thought Palin was a bombastic bitch. She came out swinging TOO hard and without saying anything about the things that people care about right now.

23. He is right. There should be no sexism. If she was a man, everybody would say aloud that she is
not ready for the job and would be discussing her policies.

For example, she said she would be an advocate for special needs children. Fact: under her watch, the special needs budget in Alaska was divided by 2.

http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb/08_OMB/budget/EED/comp2735.pdf

So, yes, let's held her to the same standards we hold men.

I saw him on TODAY and Cup of Joe, and what he said was Palin did not speak one word about afghanistan, pakistan, the middle class, education...etc. Its political theater and he's not sweating it. I also think they are waitiing to see waht the public's reposnse is before they go full throttle. I think Palin made a huge mistake going attack because it gives some folks permission to keep digging and unearthing her crap. Arrogance can cause a huge tumble down.

27. Jesus, relax people ... JB is reshaping the discussion back to the ISSUES and their failure to
Address them last night. Like he said, they can throw out all the lille one-liner barbs all they want to give their own base something to cheer for, but it does not address the fact that they have no new ideas, no accountability for the past 8 years, and no specific plans on changing anything.

The Repubs are counting on a gross overload of rhetoric to have any chance at all. This is a shallow and weak strategy and it will fail miserably in the end.

.... bet it.

Which is also why the GOP has said that this election will NOT be about the issues. Which is a little weird, right??

29. I just watched him on CNN, and while he was gracious, I think that
John Roberts knew what was going on. Biden is raising the bar for Palin. Right now, the media is acting like Palin just needs to get through the debates without falling down or picking her nose. On CNN, he was saying things like "I hope I'll be able to get through the debates. She's great." But he was saying it with a smile. Roberts saw through it. I felt like Biden was saying those things almost mockingly. I thought he was great.

32. YES, YOU ARE RIGHT ON TARGET WITH YOUR ASSESSMENT OF BIDEN.

I have a saying and it is this...

"How do you know where to go, if you don't know where you have been?"

Meaning, in a simple word.......HISTORY..............

Biden has decades of debating tough nuts in his history.

Biden learned from his wins and he learned from his losses.

Biden has a rich history of understanding this country, where we have been and where we need to go.

We need to hang on and work smart, talk smart and be smart in this effort.
