5. Eh, Hillary wasn't known for her honesty either |
|
Although the difference is, even if Hillary wasn't that honest, you know she had people's best interests at heart.
This woman is presenting herself as less than the incompetent, currupt, religious zealot that she is...that scares me.

12. And I think their plan is to ditch any questions by the media |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 07:34 AM by DeschutesRiver
Was just watching Morning Joe, and there was someone from Sarah's speechwriting team, I think her name was Nicole?
A guy from Time Magazine was broaching the subject of Sarah answering questions from the media. Laughing, Nicole basically said why is it important that she answer media questions? She will do that with the american public. Multiple times, as they tried to push her on the issue of being questioned about her positions by the media, this woman keep laughingly saying that frankly, it isn't important what the media thinks or that she ever answer questions from them. It isn't important what the media wants to know, just that Sarah speak directly and only to the american public. I am paraphrasing this, but she said it so many times that I think she was delivering a message from the McCain camp to the media - there will be no quesioning of Sarah about her policies, experiences, anything. So no exposure on the lies being told, just more of them to whoever wants to drink her kool-ade. I think the last comments were from the Times guy saying he looked forward to finding answers to questions they had, and again Nicole stating "absolutely will answer questions, but not from the media".
I think the McCain campaign's freeze on media contact just moved to another level. At least, that was my take.

19. You are spot on with your assessment |
|
They will make sure that she's shielded from reporters during the campaign and all of these "answers" will be sent out via press release scripted from the McCain campaign.
It's just so wrong on so many levels its insulting. They dishonor intelligent and quick-thinking women like Hillary Clinton & Barbara Boxer (one could also say that Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins fit this bill on the GOP side) and insult the American people by using this "beauty queen" as a trophy to attract low-info or whackjob fundy voters.

|
of already committed whackjobs, that given the issues we face now - stuff like the war and the economy being top on the list - that this may backfire horrifically on them.
People want answers to questions, and thinking people do not plan to wait around to see if she answers a questionaire about their concerns or shows up in their small town on a political whistle-stop to give them 5 minutes of a dog and pony show. With the stakes so high, whether the McCain camp likes it or not, people rely on many diverse news sources to get the answers that they don't have the time spend tracking this woman down like an errant moose.
You are right - she is an insult. She is like the pretty girl used in ads as bit of eye candy to sell muscle cars. And nope, the majority of women from all classes and backgrounds, who are proud and enjoy seeing other women accomplish things, take the hard questions, reason well, and come out on top will not like the underachieving, "cunning as a substitute for IQ" kind of Sarah woman who advances from the secretarial pool by any means except merit.

14. It's not the ease in the lie. It's the smile on the face. It freaks me the HELL OUT!! |
|
She smiles with this really seemingly sincere smile. So as she takes 62% of funding from special needs programs in Alaska; she's doing it with this sincere glee that she's doing the right thing. I think it's the most terrifying thing a person can do. It's like she honestly believes that what she's doing is right and she does it happily. A person like that is pure evil in my eyes. I saw her statements at her church and a video her church put out....I got even more scared of that woman as a person not as a viable candidate.

15. That's what scares me about 'most all of them. |
|
There's nothing worse than a person who can look you square in the eye and lie to you.
Rudy did it last night, Mittens did, Palin did it with a smile and a wink.
These are not simply people who lie easily. They ENJOY lying. It gives them a thrill to know they are poisoning the public discourse with doubt, fear and dismay.
Why do you think America is in such a critical state today? It's because they've poisoned us all.
I only hope we, the people, can shake it off in November, lift ourselves out of the sick torpor that's been inflicted on us for the past eight years.

16. It's standard Republican policy - but there's something different about the way she does it |
|
She lies just like the rest of them - but there's just something about the way she does it that concerns me. When she lies, she knows that many people know its a lie - she just continues on with her grating voice and smiling from ear to ear, almost daring someone to call her out on it. It's almost like she's dangling the bait out there hoping someone will bite and call her to the floor - at which point they will shield her and say "you are being mean to a woman! How dare you!".

If the press doesn't take up the fight at the gauntlet thrown down by the republicans against the press for partially doing their job, to dispute and expose the lies, we are all ruined. This country is so far down now, if McCain and the know-nothing, dishonest demagogue Palin are elected, we will never get back up.
