My contribution to the "Education of Sarah Palin"
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 08:57 AM by scheming daemons
These are the types of people you mocked last night, Governor Palin:

This "community organizer" was an anti-apartheid activist who spent 27 years in prison because he fought against racial injustice in South Africa. He later became President of South Africa and won a Nobel Peace Prize. His name:

Nelson Mandela

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Mandela

This "community organizer" was a Polish trade union and human rights activist. He founded "Solidarnose", the Soviet Bloc's first independent trade union. He fought against the iron fist of communist rule and won a Nobel Peace Prize and later became Poland's President. His name:

Lech Walesa

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lech_Wa%C5%82%C4%99sa

This "community organizer" was a prominent American civil rights activist who played a pivotal role in securing women's suffrage. Without her, the likes of Sarah Palin would not have been able to participate in our democratic republic. Her name:

Susan B. Anthony

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_B._Anthony

This "community organizer" was an American clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. He raised public consciousness of the civil rights movement and established himself as one of the greatest orators in U.S. history. He was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 and Congressional Gold Medal in 2004. His name:

Martin Luther King

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King,_Jr.

This "community organizer" was a major political and spiritual leader of India and the Indian independence movement. He was the pioneer of Satyagraha—resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, firmly founded upon ahimsa or total non-violence—which led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. He was a practitioner of non-violence and truth, and advocated that others do the same. His name:

Mahatma Ghandi

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahatma_Gandhi

This "community organizer" was the man whose life and teachings started the Christian religion. He was a Jew and came from a town called Nazareth in Galilee, in the country that is today called Israel. He taught of repentance, unconditional love, forgiveness of sin, and grace. Following his death by crucifixion, his followers started a religion that spread throughout the Roman Empire. Over the centuries, it spread to most of Europe, and around the world. His name:

Jesus of Nazareth

16. I just got a phone call from the local Obama office...
telling us that Biden's gonna be in the neighborhood tomorrow...

I directed him to your posts... so watch out for mor traffic..

But then, as of right now..

we're ALL Community Organizers... All of us.
Wear that proudly!

Why would we wanna be mayors of podunk towns,
with their pissant budgets and petty details
when we can join the throng of Community Organizers
who changed the world?

(Remember when, about a year ago, we all adopted
the middle name 'Hussein'?)

15. For some reason this has brought tears to my eyes
I and so many others ended last week more than full of hope. I had a sense of pride again in my country, in humankind, in what we as people can do TOGETHER. I live outside of the US and told friends I felt guilty about not instilling in my children a sense of the greatness of America, how we came to be the land of opportunity. I wanted to plan a trip to Ellis Island.

These individuals have inspired millions and millions. And they are the antithesis of what the Sarah Palins and John McCains of the world who are trying to cast that hazy fear over Americans again.

WE ARE BETTER THAN THAT. We cannot be afraid. We shall overcome. I'm truly sobbing now. I pray with all my heart that our country can be healed. And I will do a puja tomorrow (a buddhist offering ceremony) for the confused place where I was born and grew up. May America's monkey mind be slowed and may we, as one, find ourselves as one.

28. absolutely!
At first her snideness about community organizers seemed to me just something to be expected, and certainly not as exciting as the other Palin scandals in the news, but it's actually extremely ignorant in terms of world history, not to mention offensive to all the people who give of themselves to better the lives of others. She really needs to be called out on this. (Or, I suppose, the people who wrote the speech that she parroted ought to be called out on this.)

30. Excellent examples to illustrate republic disdain for people who care about others (what a crime!)
except one, Walesa, as he turned into a corrupt tool and sounds like an idiot everytime he opens his mouth. And the union was called "Solidarnosc".

Republics really are anti-human in their ideology. "Better be rich, if not, tough luck, it's always your own fault and nobody dare help you" And you're regarded as stupid if you don't agree with this, as you can't grasp the elegant beauty and "truth" of this world view...
